Is there EPIC class for individual RNs

I was wondering where in the world an individual person/RN can register and take epic class. I saw it in action and played with flash interactive demo. It can't be too hard to get a hang of it enough to work in EPIC using facilities and my background in BA in CS could only help.

Anyways, I searched epic site and googled for hours but many offering is for someone who wants to do infomatica stuff and I am not there yet (just wanna work on floor). Is there a way to take EPIC class without going through healthcare facilities?

PS

Is there a user level certification for EPIC?

I'm curious why you chose Epic. Are you sure you'll be working in a facility that uses it? My facility uses McKesson, the one across the street from us uses Meditech, and the one 20 miles away uses Cerner.

Also, these applications are very user friendly. We only give employees about an hour of training before we let them loose on the computers. There's not really a huge need for any sort of certification or intense training if you're an end user. Even our superusers don't get much more than an hour of training plus some additional training in coaching techniques.

I don't know, but if you find one let me know. We are moving to Epic and away from Meditech (thank God) and I would like to get a jump on how it's used.

It's been my experience that if you are familiar with Meditech, you will find Epic easy to use. Epic is similar, IMO, to Meditech, but much more user friendly.

To the OP - I would not take a class in advance to getting a job. Any place that hires you will give you computer training. I don't think any place would NOT hire you because you are unfamiliar with the EMR system they use.

I would just let the facility train you in whatever they use. Plus, it's free. I agree that they are not going to hire you because you don't know the software. Most facilities are different anyway.

Our facility is moving from MediTech to Paragon (McKeeson) in January.

Good luck!
