Informatics

I have a masters degree in information systems. Does one need to be a nurse to break into informatics? The community colleges are full, with a long waiting list of students in the nursing program. I checked out the career colleges, but their evening classes are evenings + weekends. It's insane! I'm considering picking up an AA in health care admin. via on-line with an accredited school where I can get another school loan.
