But I AM a Nurse!

by SuesquatchRN Premium Member

I take the RN boards on Monday. I'm the informatics nurse and plan to continue in this position. While I would probably have been hired even were I not continuing in school, I know it's important to my boss and the PTB that an RN hold this job.

Whenever I tell people I'm taking the boards the ask, "So are you going to go back to nursing?"

I AM IN NURSING!

Pfffft.

I find myself always having to qualifiy my job title because I'm not an RN. It gets old very fast. I'm certain you will start to feel better about all of this once you can put RN after your name. Well, good luck now. The time has come!

You are as much of a nurse as the DON, telephone triage nurse, staffing coordinator, psych intake nurse, chief nursing officer, nurse manager, and any other nurse who does not work at the bedside. You are no longer at the bedside (lucky you!), but you're still a nurse in your own right.
