Did anyone attend the HIMSS VCE? I'd never been to one and thought it was great. Alot of interesting subject matter was presented. The only thing I was disappointed about was that I did not win a prize. The next VCE I believe is in June 2011. Hopefully, it will be even better. I think the virtual forum is wonderful for those of us who can't travel.

This is my first time hearing of a HIMSS Virtual Conference. I am actually attending college for my BSN and Im currently taking Nursing Informatics. I have read about the Health information management system society in my text book. Being able to join in on a Virtual Conference is a great way to supplement my reading assignments, which could inhance my learning of the HIMSS. In your professional opinion, do you think the Virtual Conference benefits the student nurses?

Because health informatics incorporates all disciplines including nursing and because nurses need to be familiar with technology, I feel the VCE would be beneficial to students. I noted that one of the keynote speakers for the conference was a nurse. There were topics that addressed issues that are near and dear to nurses such as patient safety and quality. The coordinators for the VCE have it set up whereby attendees can listen to missed presentations today so in a little while I plan to go into the site and listen. It's absolutely marvelous to me.

Thank you Mijourney for this information and insight. I believe this information will be very beneficial to my fellow classmates and I, especially those who plan to pursuing a career in Nursing Informatics. I will definitely pass this info on to my peers. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with the directions to sign up for the HIMSS VCE so I can join myself and pass the information along to my peers.
