Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

i expected to start on january too. from what ive heard, they dont really hire people at the end of the year.

Hello!

My friend and I had our initial exams and interviews last Sept. 26 yet no updates from MMC after that. Just wondering if they would still contact us for another interview or such. Thanks!

are you done with the medical/physical exam?

Um, not at all.

Hi I passed my resume last dec 12 but they still havent contacted me.do you think i should still wait or go there again and pass my resume?

I just want to ask if they are still accepting applicants for the training? I'm planning to submit my requirements this January. Thanks

Hi nahchan. I think they are still accepting resumes tho I'm not sure if when they're having the training. I'm also planning to submit again this january cause they havent contacted me when I passed on december

hi blair111 did they already told you when to pass the requirements? Coz they called me also last November i think, to inform me that i passed the final interview and advised me to wait for their call for further instructions. I was also advised that training would probably come about first or second quarter of 2013. I was a bit puzzled because up until now i haven't received another call from them. Did you or anyone here tried to call HRD to follow up your application after they have informed you that you have passed the final interview? thanks :)

Um, not at all.

maybe you should wait for the next opening because from what I've heard, they already stopped accepting applicants, those who underwent medical exams are the ones for final interview and i think the final interviews are almost done.

They said they will call on the first week of Jan... wait for the call to pass the requirements... and yeah I got the same info too, that training will probably start about first or second quarter of the year. Some of my friends who passed the final interview were called about the ward clerk position, they were told that there is still no definite time for the start of CETN and that it might take 3-6 months. I wasn’t called and I’m still waiting for their go signal to pass the requirements.

i just received a text message from HRD earlier and i was also offered another position. but after i asked some questions, he(from HRD) , told me that if i were to accept the position they are giving me, i will be removed from the waiting list of Candidates for the CETN. And after 6 months from the start/deployment of the offered position, that's the only time you can transfer to another position such as staff nurse, but for that to happen i still have to reapply and undergo CENT. So now I'm so confused, I'm not sure whether i should i accept the O.P. or wait for the schedule of CETN. :(

I'm tempted to accept it but I really want to practice my profession this time, i gave up my last to job just to pursue nursing. I'm really hoping it wont take that long for the next schedule of CETN.

I passed the 3 requirements (tor, resume and board rating) on Oct 1, 2012. I did a follow up on Oct 14 and the guy said that if I did not receive a notification within 2weeks then it means I didn't make it. I have not received any call either. My board rating is high and my school is among the top too but maybe since I don't have any hospital experience it may be grounds to not consider me as a cetn candidate. I really don't know. I just hope and pray for a miracle that I just didn't make the 1st batch for 2013 and would be considered for the 2nd batch. I've been an RN since 2010 and still... :(
