CABON Now Requires SSN to apply for NCLEX.

Effective on April 26, 2010 California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) will no longer accept applications that do not contain a U.S. Social Security Number. The Nursing Practice Act provides for a unified examination and licensing application. Once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued. Under these circumstances the BRN cannot accept applications for the examination and licensure without a U.S. social security number.

For those applicants who have failed the exam and want to re-apply; CABON will not accept re-application without U.S Social Security Number.

If your application was sent prior to April 26, 2010 or if you are already eligible, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.

could u send us the link for this,so we can find it also if that was really reliable or not,,pls pls,,tnx

You must have SSN# to apply.

The only way to get that is become a citizen.

My wife is from 'Pinas. She received her Social Security number about two weeks after she arrived here in the U.S. on a K-1 Fiancée visa.

very reliable.

the nclex passing is not with cabon exclusively so even if your licensure documents are destroyed, your nclex passing is still active. if your license expires or documents are destroyed then you can have it "re-activated" so to speak once you have ssn. however if your goal in the usa is a different state then you should go ahead and endorse your nclex passing to that other state to keep from having to go through extra steps and expenses later.

what is the best thing to do? let cabon destroy the file or have endorsement to other state? we are not planning to work to other state. just waiting for visa which takes too long

"Once an applicant passes the examination, a license is automatically issued".

I already passed the exam in 2008, does this mean I will be given a license? or is my status still the same?

Hi archie

" My question is once an applicant passes the exam, then license is being issued ,do they also allocate SSN automatically attached to the licence?

Thx

Not everyone will meet ITIN requirements

Hi Silverdragon

I have a qusetion coz im worried sick really :crying2:

I took the NCLEX RN for CA BON last 7/6/11 and until now its been 20 days and still havent got any mail :crying2:

I tried the PVT and got the good pop up and in a way my anxiety is lessened but im still having sleepless nights !

My question is , if an applicant pass the test then a licence is issued right? does it mean that SSN is also attached to the licence before my name will appear on the CA BON website?

I'm sorry for asking coz im just having anxiety attack and sleepless nights

CA will not issue a license without a SSN so if you haven't given them your SSN then all you will get is a letter stating you have met requirements.

Yes they will send you a letter. Expect a wait of 4-8 weeks depending on where you are and what the post delivery is like

how true that federal employer identification number can be used instead of the SSN p\in taking NCLEX like in Cali which is now requiring for SSN

When filing you 1040 form, you take the Federal employer id number on your w2 to file your taxes, it has no relation to the board of nursing and no value.

I am quite confused with this, i thought that you cannot apply for CA NCLEX RN without ssn? how come cliffordortiz was able to take the exam when she seems to not have ssn? i am on family visa petition and looking to a one to two year time frame with the way the process is going before i can enter US so if I can pass the nclex now i can just provide the BRN with my ssn when i get to the states since a three year time is given to provide ssn..

can i APPLY TO TAKE CA NCLEX without ssn?

because as much as possible i dont want to take initial licensing in other states anymore when i dont intend to work somewhere else other than california coz i think i will be wasting money..

I am wondering...did you take the CA licensure exam without filling the SSN part?? or you leave it blank in filling the SSN in FORM?? what date did you process your papers for California Application by Licensure or NCLEX?????
