POEA/SRO Nurses for KSA

World Philippines

Published

Hello friends, I went to poea last Wednesday to pass my requirements. They told me to wait for their text message, just wondering how long does it take for them to text me?

Hello SRO Saudi Recruitment Office in makati

Hello! I have only 1 year experience and it was long before (February 2007 - February 2008). Am I qualified for Saudi? ThAnks:nurse:

@kikaynikiko

Hm..not sure about that..you have almost 2 years gap since your last nursing job..SRO didn't really mention about that in their job openings..but there's no harm in trying, right?

Maybe the next delegation will come February or March (or could possibly be beyond those months), depending on MOH-KSA's needs for staff nurses.

Until now there are lots of hospitals in KSA that are lacking with staff nurses..they are building and expanding more hospitals and PHC.

So, just stand by. We'll get our rightful opportunities in God's plan=)

For the meantime, try to gain more experience/trainings/skill updates.('_,^)

guys, question please...

will they accept 1 year experience as a school nurse and 6 months training in a hospital setting or are they strict about the experience as staff nurse?

can we pass the documents in the SRO or do we have to go to POEA?

thanks in advance to those who will take time to answer my queries! :)

@ smo2886,

I think trainings are not counted as working experience since the SRO will be requiring for you COE (certificate of employment). And for your school nurse experience..i'm not sure if SRO will or will not accept it.

The minimum working experience required by SRO is 1 year.

Better visit POEA office first and inquire about your concerns, for verification.

Besides, SRO office is still in Saudi Embassy, and it's kind of hard to go inside the embassy 'coz strict security is implemented there.

Yup.. Actually that's one of my major problem why some agencies don't accept or consider my application to the job openings..But still I am hoping that KSA/POEA will consider my application because I really want to pursue my nursing career..I am just waiting and have no present work that's why I really praying hard..Do you think I need to start again from scratch? Thank you for addressing my concerns..It really helps a lot..I can't see any direction I am going to take so thanks a lot =)

I feel you @kikaynikiko i too have the same problem. Its funny how agencies require currently working applicants. I mean why would I apply for another job when I already have one? (that's an exasperated statement from a confused, desperate nurse). Of course the unemployment gap will widen if you dont hire the nurse right?

I guess we just have to stay positive and wait. KSA still needs nurses they are building new hospitals, and many already existing and functioning hospitals still lack nurses. If POEA accepts nurses with 1 year of work experience, why wouldnt they hire nurses with an employment gap but 2 years of work experience ?? pray and stay hopeful. Everything will fall into place.

I see..and I fully understand your concerns..the world is just too harsh on us simply because of the competition..nurses (especially in Philippines) are over populated and these (but not all) agencies are trying to get the bests out of the bests. Expectations and qualifications from these agencies get higher every time our population increases. But I don't have anything against the new generation of nurses, 'coz I still believe they will soon contribute to the industry. I'm just stressing the fact the many are taking advantages, even the local hospitals.

For example, 2 years ago, SRO-MOH was hiring nurses even without experience, but now their requirements includes at least 1 year of working experience.

While private agencies before were only requiring nurses to have 2 years (or above) experience, now you need to have at least 2 years working experience "in a tertiary or 150 bed capacity hospital".

Added to this is that employment gap that should be at least below 6 months or below 1 year (depends).

But not all agencies have the same standards or requirements. One just needs to impatiently search, hope, and have faith.

You don't have to literally start from scratch, but upgrading your skills (through training, seminars, etc) will assist you in your future employment. This will tell your employer or interviewer that you have been doing something to get back on your feet as a professional nurse.

SRO-MOH can be one of your choices. Just now I remember my co-staff before, who shared her story, and said that she's been out of nursing for 2 years before she re-applied in SRO (yep, she's an ex-saudi). So, I hope this brings light to your day. At least you now have something to hope for.=) Just make sure to verify this with POEA or SRO.

Good luck and God bless^_^

Haha, I reacted the same as to why they are requiring nurses to be currently employed. It's funny 'coz the thing is, if you are employed in a local hospital while they are processing your application, there could be a big possibility that you will breach your contract from your current employer once the agency suddenly deploy you or give you the go signal to work. Well, it could not happen if your current hospital will be generous to give your release papers immediately, right? But..uhm..I'm having a second thought on that^ ^

There is still hope on this employment gap matters. A former co-staff once shared her story that she's been out of nursing for 2 years before she re-applied in SRO-MOH. Hm..i think that was way back nearly end of year 2008.

So there ya go, a light of hope^ __ ^

Awww Lyfer, Thank you so so so much! That's exactly what I needed. I was on the verge of hopelessness. The last thing I want to do if feel remorse for decisions I made especially with regards to my career (that i love and always dreamed of since i was a kid). I left my last workplace coz i wasnt happy at all plus I wanted to seek better chances in a better place (if you know what I mean) and at that time i know that was the best decision I ever made. Looking back at my situation with my unemployment now, I say I'm still happy I left that place(Saudi Arabia).

I just hope we find a good job in a workplace where we can be happy.

hi, i just want to inquire about the delegations from KSA, i've heard that they will be coming over in the philippines this march? is this true? and if it is, can anyone please tell me the exact dates? thanks

Yes, I understand how you feel..maybe because there's a similarity between our experiences. I also left my former employer because I think I'm gonna loose my sanity if I stayed longer..my purpose for this decision is not to look for greener pasture, but rather to look for a place where I can say I'm happy and contented, and be compensated properly. I said this because aside from being in a depressingly remote area, with a life like in prison, my former hospital was kind of a mess..management is terrible..but I can assure it's not the worst hospital in that country.

I'm also looking for another job now. Still hoping for it to come soon before my employment gap reach 1 year, lolz. We'll find that opportuniy. Inshaallah^__^
