Nurses with Hepatitis B in the Philippines?

World Philippines

Published

Just graduated last March 2008 and took the boards this June. The thing is, I'm a chronic carrier of Hepatitis B. I already searched the forums and from what I've read, hospitals in the USA, Canada, UK etc do hire nurses with Hepatitis B. But information with regards to hospitals here in the Philippines isn't quite as definite. From the few replies I've read, hospitals here seem to be stricter in hiring nurses with Hepatitis B and Hepa B test is one of the requirements for employment.

Anyone know any exact info if hospitals in the Philippines are hiring nurses with Hepatitis B? Anyone with Hepatitis B that was hired recently? Obviously, hospitals have different requirements but it would be nice to hear some info about the topic.

Thanks!

Hi, i am new and i am not a nurse but i hope i'm welcome in this site. I am also a hep b carrier, I learned this when I first applied for a job at crown regency hotel cebu as hr staff. Good thing I passed and got a certification as a bonafide employee, but one thing I never forget was when I undergo medical exam and saw the result that i was positive in hep b, when the HR department know about the result they hold my application. I was so depressed and frustated, I also learned that my siblings have the same case of mine. Until now frustration always come to my mind and fear of not getting a good job. I dont have also the courage to tell my girlfriend that I have hep b virus, I'am afraid she will reject me, she's a nurse...I need advice, this is the only site where I can share my sentiment, I feel that my life sucks because of this...

please let your girlfriend know. i know it might be hard to face what lies ahead but being honest is key especially in crucial situations like this. you've experienced the difficulty of it as well, right? maybe it's fair for you to leave that option/decision to your girlfriend by laying your cards on the table and letting her sort her priorities. one way or another, she'd have to find it out. i hope it all works out for the best.

Good day hidden identity. Selenium is a mineral that helps support antioxidant activity. I take it for supplement purposes only. google it and read its benefits for carriers like me.I eat veggies, fruits, fish, and other nutritious foods as much as possible. Yup I thought I would get denied, im very grateful there are countries around the globe like usa that is very considerate and has anti discrimination laws. I hope people would become aware not only about hepatitis b but as well as other infectious diseases like aids. Its difficult to live with such health problems, knowing that anytime it would get worse. Lets pray for a cure. God is listening, im a living witness. he always listen to our prayers, God knows when is the best time to grant us what we are asking for.

i dont know if theres selenium available here in drugstore....well lets be pray and guide will do the rest..... :yeah:

Hi! For those RNs working in California hospitals, can you please share your experiences during the application process?Did you have to show a medical certificate from your Gastroenterologist or do they conduct their own medical exam? I know pretty much sure they do but was there any delay considering your status? Thanks and God bless everyone!

hi Im a nurse too,,I never had the chance to have an experience to work in a hospital here in Philippine because of being a hep. B pos. So now Im planning to apply for student visa in Australia,.. I just want to know does anybody here or people you know was approved by their student visa application in Australia? Please share your experiences guys. I badly need your help..

Hi luvz23! I also applied for a student visa in australia and I'm afraid to be denied because of my condition, how's your application? I am really anxious now :(

i hope i can go to abroad too =(

Where are you going ashfia? Are you planning to go to Australia too?..

hi waterleily..I havent proceeded yet to my application coz some of my documents are not complete yet.. Im still focusing in reviewing Ielts by myself..How about you? Are you just waiting for your result? I heard from my agency it depends on the embassy if they will give us visa and it depends upon your health.. I am also worried about it coz I havent check up with my doctor..Sooner I'll ask her advice regarding my condition. I hope it will be a good news...Tell me more about your status now??Lets just be strong and pray always..Actually I badly wanna go there coz I havent exerienced working as a licensed nurse.. I always wanted to serve our nation but theres no palce for us here..too bad its the reality..I,m scared to be rejected.

@luvz23 I'm also scared, to the point of giving up.. I already submitted my documents to the embassy..I am waiting for their e-mail for my medical exam..my doctor told me that I can go abroad as long as the HBV DNA level is low or negative...but I am still worried, I have read somewhere in a forum (not this forum, can't remember what site) regarding Australian Visa application that he was rejected due to his health condition, they stated that his condition will cost the health insurance there and he can be a liability to the gov't and taxpayers (that's what i understand to what he wrote), even though he won't be working as a nurse, he was applying as an immigrant... That's why I got worried. During my last check up my HBV DNA level was already negative, but I just don't know..I'm praying really hard that I can pass.. :(, I hope we can make it..
