Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

I passed my requirements around the 3rd week of July. I finished all the necessary steps at around First week of September. They told me to wait for their call regarding the passing of all the last requirements. I'm not sure whether they are still entertaining applicants for the next batch of trainees.

hi! i believe i passed my most recent application for MMC thru email last May 2014. I was called by MMC for an exam followed by an interview and a panel interview last august 2014. I passed everything but unfortunately i had a problem with my PE which made them hold my application temporarily. Even if i would be given a clearance, they still want it to be clear, as in removed (whatever that is) even if it doesn't need to be removed. in other words, it's a pending application. then i tried CSMC wherein the application was kinda simpler, I passed my requirements (the one they posted @ the nursing office) was emailed for an exam and was followed by a panel interview. i passed and now thinking real hard if i would go for it since they'll be requiring a training fee (10k).

kevsky123 are you the one with the eye glasses? i mean did we go together during the panel interview at MMC?

Rev? I have the same situation, I was told that I need to have a surgery for 4 of my wisdom tooth. They told me that I can remove half of it before the training and the following after 3 months. The two extractions already cost me 12.5k. If you're not willing to undergo the completion of clearance, I suggest that you go to CSMC and ask MMC first if they would charge you for the medical exam.

it's me kev! haha that's so expensive! i don't think mmc will still charge me since i stopped even before having the necessary lab tests. :)

Small world. haha! I know. But it's their requirement so i have no choice if i want to push through their training. I see, CSMC is a good choice as well.

@daydreamxii @kevzky123 I see that you guys have already undergone the screening process in MMC. As for me, I am still waiting for their initial invitation for screening. I just submitted my resume on 1st week of August. I think I'll push through with CSMC just for the sake of getting started at something. I might just drop the training if I'll have a really good chance at securing a slot in MMC training. How bout you guys have you decided yet? By the way, with good credentials, what's the average/maximum waiting time for applicants to be initially contacted by MMC? Or like how long does it take before they shred the resumes or something.

hi astrocyte! the waiting time for MMC is not certain for me since i tried passing both online and as walk-in since 2012? (you can back read my post from most recent application until panel interview and medical exam). I've decided to pursue CSMC instead since we've been exposed there back in college and I believe they will be hiring anytime soon (based from the job posting they posted on one website last Oct. 31, 2014). And I am going to submit my final requirements this week and of course, the training fee. :S bit pricey too but I will just do my best during the training. MMC is probably not meant for me. :) just keep on submitting your application, who knows they might contact you soon. what's nice about MMC is that they don't have the backer system, i think. However, they are very meticulous when it comes to the applicant's Medical Exam.

If you're pursuing CSMC, i guess i'll see you on the first day? good luck!

Hey thanks for the info @daydreamxii. Any idea how many of the trainees does CSMC usually absorb? I saw the post about the job opening and it's quite confusing. Does it mean they are direct hiring or is it an opening for PGNT training? I believe CSMC directly hired nurses in the past and had them undergo pre-employment training. I have a friend who got hired last year without undergoing PGNT. I'm not sure if it was because of a backer though.

that I'm not yet sure and I will still have to find out probably tomorrow :)

I might push through MMC as of now because I think that they would ask me to pay for all of my pre employment expenses in exchange for withdrawing my application. I'm still not capable of paying the training fee for CSMC as of the moment. I think that CSMC are hiring as of now. I think the previous batches of trainings at CSMC way back in 2012 has no training fee. In fact, they give allowance for their trainees. I'm not sure if the training fee started at around 2013.

Hi. I'm wondering why I haven't received any text from them I submitted my resume, tor, and board rating thrice already. Once last june and twice last september. :(

Hi daydreamxii, can you pm me the email add of mmc hr? I would like to submit thru email as well. I've submitted thrice already at their office but no text yet until now. Thank you so much!
