Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

What is a Patient Service Rep and Ward Clerk? What they usually do?

Yes, I'm done. I'll check the results on Monday.

Ahm, I heard one, he was not cleared by the dentist. He needs to undergo a minor operation.

Have you tried following-up the referral?

Hi CGHCNalum! Are you done with your medicals? Did you encounter anyone from your batch who had to undergo dental surgeries/ hematologic clearance before they were cleared? I was advised by the employee health clinic to wait for the go signal of the HR regarding the referrals for hema. I'm sooo tired of waiting for their decision, and awhile ago I learned from the MD in the clinic that if the HR doesn't give a go signal for my referrals, it means I won't be hired. :(

What is the probability of being absorbed after the training? Just wondering how many COPN batch they had this year? I received an invitation from them for exam and inteview however im really confused since i just started a job, a promising and stable career of a life underwriter in an insurance company. Is it true that they are only offering nursing support specialist position?

Hi! To those asking about the medical exams. Yes the HR is very strict! I know applicants who didn't get in because of the medical exam. A friend of mine was diagnosed with dermoid cyst (ovary) and was SUGGESTED to have it remove for you to be cleared even though her OB said it wasn't operable because it was only 2cm (5-6+cm is the operable size) she even had consultations outside of mmc just for second opinion. Even the OB on the Employee's Health Clinic said it wasn't operable. Sadly the HR didn't text her for any schedule, she spent thousands for her UTZ inside MMC. Another applicant had a risk for DM because both her parents are diabetic, she also didn't pass the medical. A friend of mine also was referred to many specialist and was required to do MRI but she refused because it was too pricey on her part. So if you think you have "sabit" on your medical don't waste your money repeating labs and paying expensive PFs. I am not discouraging you but if you have the means and you know you're healthy just go and follow up your referrals. Who knows? Good luck!

Hi guys! I will follow-up my referrals this week at the EHC. I'm still hoping to get accepted, considering I already spent almost a thousand bucks just for those repeat labs. I just want to ask, if I will not be given the chance to be hired, will I be still required to pay for the Medical fees?

I think they offer the nursing support specialist position, as well as patient services rep/ward clerk positions for those with below 80% board rating...they're really strict when it comes to BR and the school where you graduated. I have a friend who applied for the staff RN position but since her BR was below 80, she was only offered the PSR position, which accdg. to her was more of an OPD/billing position. The ward clerk position I think is more of a clinical-nurse assistant job- updating the ward census, etc.

Hi BlueLagoon! I am also having a problem getting cleared in my medical. They referred me to a hematologist and was diagnosed with mild thalassemia. My hematologist told me not to worry about my condition and gave me a clearance. But the EHC said that I should repeat my cbc after 1 month after taking iron supplements prescribed by my hematologist. After 1 month, i visited my hematologist and she is quite shocked because I am wasn't cleared at this time. She explained to me that nothing will change, I will be anemic forever. So she is wndering why the EHC requested for another cbc knowing that my hemoglobin will be forever low. Huhuhuhu. I am taking folic acid as my maintenance. Then I went to EHC and passed my latest cbc. they told me that the head will have her final evaluation on my case. I called the HR and asked for the results, they told me to wait for a call or text. Dunno what to do next :/ I spent almost 10k :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

I was having a hard time last February about referrals because of HR. But I pursue it anyway.

Hi guys! A newbie here! I'm aspiring to be part of the workforce for MMC, but I have a big problem here.

See, I passed my applications last January, got called for an exam on the 5th of Feb, an initial interview on the 19th, and passed the final interview on the 21st. It was a very fast process for me, considering it really takes the HR a long time to respond. I was so ecstatic that finally, I'll be able to practice again after a one-year employment. But the problem comes along with my medicals. Everything was free, but I was advised to do a sonogram when they found a lump during my BSE, and my platelet results were way over the normal limits. I'm okay with all the requirements. Can somebody please enlighten me with what the HR does if they find something abnormal with ur results? The doctor reminded me that when something like this happens, one may be put at the end of the priority hiring list. Does anyone have or know of someone who has this experience? Thanks alot.

We are in the same situation :/

Hi guys good evening. MakatiMed HR texted me this morning and told me to come over on friday for a pre-employment exams. i don't know how to confirm if that exam will be for the staff nurse position. i tried reaching out on them to ask but unfortunately they didn't respond on my text. I applied for two positions. I was interviewed once for the admin post rather than as staff nurse but I told them that my priority is my application as SN. shall I go this time assuming that this message is for SN position? thanks for your comments and suggestions! God bless everyone

Hello, I'm new here and I found this forum very helpful. I just finished my initial exam up to final interview for just one week. Now, I'm waiting for call if I pass or fail the final interview. I'm very nervous because it's been 2days already. My batch mate who had been recently hired there said that they are for medical already just right after the final interview. Now, my emotions are really intense cause I really want to push on this application. I hope they'll call or text me soon.
