Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

My friend already received a text form them today that she was for medical tomorrow.

are they continuously conducting interviews for the new trainees or they already completed the list for this next COPN batch?

Hi, I'm still waiting to hear from MMC about my application for the staff nurse position. I just noticed that they are sending notifications to those who submitted their application last year (last quarter of 2012). Two of my RN HEALS group mates and I submitted our resumes on the 2nd or 3rd week of May this year, and all of us haven't heard anything from them yet. Based on the previous posts here, applicants who just submitted their documents to MMC some time between February-April this year were notified early in May but right now, they are dealing with those who applied last year again. I am saying this because my other group mate who submitted her application on October 2012 was just summoned for the exam and interview yesterday.

Do you have the same observation guys? I am still hoping that Makati Med would send us a text message soon though. :)

i think your still lucky because you have your RN HEALS while waiting for a call from Makati Med. And as we observe applicants from last year called this year and may happened to you after you finished your RN HEALS. it may be a big shot for you if it will happen. no vacancy. :)

To COPN probees/trainees: how many days did you wait for the training to start after you've finished all the medical exams and passed all the requirements? And can anyone give an overview about the exposure? Do we have the freedom to choose the ward assignment or the NSD assign the trainees to whichever ward needs manpower? And are the staff easy to get along with? Hehe sorry if I have so many questions I just want to have an idea about the training proper. Please enlighten us! Thank you! :nurse:

For COPN trainees, the ward assignment is randomly selected. After the COPN training, you will be asked about your top3 preferred specialized areas, from this they will base your ward assignment once you're a probee (e.g. You want to be in the PICU, they will assign you in the pedia ward).

As for the staff, they are all kind, but you'll notice that the atmosphere of each nurse station is very different from other nurse stations.

I also hope and pray that they will call me too for final interview and medical exam.:saint:

Yep my friend said that they are still continuously conducting interviews and exams for the new trainees.

How can I be hired as a staff nurse in MMC?

@captainclutch. MMC hires Staff nurses thru their COPN training program. Do backread of previous posts. You can find there answers to your questions.

when will be the next schedule for the training program of MMC?...

I am planning to pass my resume this week that's why knowing this will also help me in a way?...

If I only pass my resume now then when will it be "probably" due?...:(

@nurses_care_2012 did you already received a text from them that you are for medical exam?

Maybe you can follow up your application in HR or nursing training office. Can you also please update us here if ever your friend received a text regarding the next step after her final interview yesterday? Thanks.

Hello! How long did you wait for them to contact you after the exams and initial interview? Thanks! :)
