for updates to nurses bound to MOH-libya 2012.

Libya is much, much more lenient than Saudi. And yep, mr/ms nursejoe 15, there is an increase depending on your area and length of experience. That 875 is just a starting/basic salary. Before the war, we have a 13% tax deducted from our salary. Now, the tax is only 3%. You can be receiving as low as 875 LD or as high as 1,500 LD depending on your area and experience.

There are a lot of MOH hospitals in Libya and the nurses there are currently understaffed that there is only one or two nurses per ward, thus the mass hiring. They need thousands in Benghazi and Tripoli.

The biggest MOH hospital in Benghazi is Benghazi Medical Center (BMC) and the one in Tripoli, the Tripoli Medical Center (TMC), both have 1,200 beds. Both hospitals have latest medical equipments from Europe. As far as I know in Benghazi, there are only 4 MOH hospitals there: BMC, Hawari General Hospital, Al Jellah (Trauma hospital) and Jamahiriya (Maternity). I have no idea in Tripoli though.

As for the waiting time, it could be as fast as three months or as late as one year.

Well, IMO, if you are still young and has the chance to apply to other countries, do it. Libya, for me, is the best place for engineers but not really for nurses. What's good in Libya is the place itself (low cost of living, simple living), climate (winter lasts longer than summer), and the people (especially in Benghazi). BTW, MOH nurses in Libya are automatically granted a "Family Status," meaning you can bring your immediate family after sometime.

Libya only has around 6M people and when you check the size of their country, it's at least 4x or 5x the size of the Philippines. There are no malls, cinemas and food franchises such as mcdonald's or burger king in Libya. It's literally simple living.

Thanks JLLandero for the information handed to us. Somehow we have a rough idea about Libya. :nurse:

No problem. I'll be glad to answer your inquiries as to the extent of my knowledge. Those are based on my experience as a nurse in Benghazi Medical Center pre-war and during war. Other updates are base from my colleagues who are still presently working in Benghazi, particularly in BMC.

Another thing about Libya is that they have a high regard to us Filipinos in general. There is no DH in Libya as far as visa stamping is concerned. Maybe there are a few isolated cases here and there but even their visas indicate a technical profession. Almost all Filipinos in Libya are PROFESSIONALS. Highest paid salaries in Libya include engineers and university professors (Clinical Instructors and English Professors have a salary range of 4,000LD - 6,000LD per month).

hi!

can you please share also with us how much is the placement fee?.. equivalent to one month salary?

Specializes in ICU.

yes, there is a placement fee equivalent to 1 month salary.

Hi! again. The agency who texted me says that they need nurses even without experience. I only have 6 months volunteer experience in a tertiary hospital 3 years ago. I then went to UK as caregiver. Fed up as caregiver I went back to the PH to go back to my nursing career. Unfortunately , I was stunned that nurses were flooding when I came back. Since I'm back from the UK I only gained 5 months experience in the OR as a volunteer again. So all in all a total of 11 months as a trainee nurse .Unfortunately just recently all trainees were stopped by the government nationwide and damn until now I could not get a job at this time.

My query is , is it really true about what an agency claimed that unexperience nurse can also apply. And do you think we have the chance to be hired by MOH-Libya despite the lack of nursing experience?

Secondly, do you think, that Libyan war will not recur anytime soon? My dad wont allow me to apply. But i will sneak out ,as I'm dying to get a job as my EB3 visa for the US will be current soon . I'm scared that my immigrant petition in the US will be denied ( and been waiting for this visa for 6 years  ) just because I did not work as a proper nurse ...

Thanks for reading and I will wait for your reply JLLandero :thankya:

The issue is if you are getting EB3 is your employer still on board with you. If they no longer willing to wait then you can not get a EB3 without a employer

Well, there's no harm in trying. If they will accept your volunteer experience, then that's good. By the way, where in Libya did you apply? Is it Tripoli or Benghazi? They said that the processing may take a while for now as Libya will be having their elections anytime soon.

As for the war... even I cannot answer that. Let's just hope and pray that there will be no repeat of the war ever again. On the safety issues though, it is still much better if you are going to be employed in Benghazi.

Silverdragon102, well I have been positive with my EB3. My US agency is till updating me every now and then. They are not losing hope thus why should I? They have spent a lot of money funding my NCLEX, IELTS, VISA Screen application and its renewal , 50% of my relocation bonus has been given to me after I submitted all my test results. So for now, I am journeying with lots of positivity that in due time I will land in the US amidst the global recession .

JLLandero, thanks for the reply. Are you no longer in Libya nowadays? I am nozy... hehehee

Good to be positive, we have already seen people post that employer has backed out due to wait

tnx JLLandero!

but is it true that you are only allowed to send half of your salary and you need to spend the other half in Libya?a co-worker that worked in libya told me about it years ago..i hope its not true..

Specializes in ICU.

eh? no. You can send your whole salary from Libya to Phils via Western Union. It's just that nowadays, there is a 1,000 USD equivalent limit to the amount of money being sent.

An update... According to one agency, applicants for BMC is now full. Other MOH Libyan hospitals are located in the provinces such as Ajidabya, Tobruk etc. it would be nice though if you can land yourself in Benghazi.

@ladygreened

My husband and I went home from Libya last July 2011. We've been there for almost two years but my dad has been and is still there for 20 years ^^
