Please go to the NCLEX Discussion Forum and look for the sticky that is called the First Tip. That must be completed before you can get the rest of the program sent to you. There is no place for you to review it, it comes only from me.

Follow the instructions that are there.

Kathykay and Blabber, you care really something! I do hope I can pass NCLEX on my first take. I'm not planning to take the exam immediately. I'm not the kind of person who rush things when it comes to this matter. I'm planning to take it after a year. Study while working. And Suzanne, thank you for answering our questions... I really had no idea about PN, agencies, etc etc... until I read the information you gave! It's really not that easy!

You are quite welcome.

1. What are the materials that you used?

Lippincott Made Incredibly Easy for my comprehensive Review. Saunders is also highly recommendable. For the Q&A part, I used Lippincott Q&A made incredibly easy, Saunders' Q&A, Kaplan, NCSBN, and a lot of NCLEX Cd Reviewers.

Try to have a quite environment when you study and don't think too much about what will be the outcome of your exam.Always pray to God for guidance. Think that your exam is for your loved ones:up:

hello well thats correct you can take nclex without review centers provided you have the motivation, discipline, and strategy act like as a review center to your self, well actually it took me 10 most before i take nclex the first 3 mos i enrolled in a review ctr..but as i recognize what i can do in review center i can do it in my own home...provided you have the materials..and for the remaining months i review it by myself...well here are some advise...1st. you need to have a study area maybe in your home or in any other place as for me i look for a library near our vicinity 2nd make your own review calendar(for me 6mos complex to simple review) it is very good if you started first with lecture find a reliable complete lecture notes that will boost your confidence...make a day off on your review schedule 3rd it is much better if you look for a study buddy if it works for you...4th do not memorize for me i just read over and over and over again and tried to understand what i am reading 5th on the last 2 mos.before the exam try answering some practice question at least 150/day or if you can make it try answering 265 question with timer(6hrs) 6th on the weeks before the exam try to memorize some points on what you've studied and lastly PRAY...ask for for help to him and tell him that you really need to pass this exam claim it that you are a usrn already and it really works...well quite to long but it really works for me...good luck and god bless.here are the answer to your questions:

1. What are the materials that you used?

saunders q&a,compre,feuer lecture, q&a cd's(lippincott,saunders,exam cram,springhouse etc)

2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

this is the usual schedule during my self review..(for 6 mos)

7am-10am-lecture; 10am-10:30-break; 10:30-12:00-lecture notes

12:00-1pm-lunch; 1pm-3pm-practice exam with rationale(75 items) 3pm-3:30-break; 3:30-5pm-lecture 5pm-9pm rest,internet,watch tv, you'll need to sacrifice your usual routine 9pm-11pm-practice exam with rationale(75 items)

3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

10 months

4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

read the above suggestions

5. Take one or take two?

with determination, sacrifice, discipline, patience and with God's help take one stopped.

1. what are the materials that you used?

saunders, feuer lecture, nursing bullets

2. how many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

cramming!!!!!! that always worked for me

first week kept on reading!!!

second week kept on answering!!!

3. how many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

19 days but lived like a hermit....no nothing!! mobile phone's off!! no telly, no radio!!! just me and my books...lots of food in my room though!!!

i always bring my bullets to work, though. so that if i got a quiet patient or get assigned in the side room i've got something to read)

4. what are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

take 1 gram of paracetamol before the start of the test (you dont know how long one would sit and stare at the computer)

5. take one or take two?

just one and passed with 75 questions!!

Cramming is actually the worst thing that you can do in preparation for the NCLEX exam, your brain will not remember what it needs to. This exam is completely different than any exam that you have ever taken or will take. It is not concerned with what you learned in nursing school, but how you are going to apply it when you begin to work. And nothing more than that.

You should not be preparing for more than three hours per day, or your brain just does not retain all that you have learned and studied. And it should not take one more than three months to prepare for this exam.

For any questions about preparing for the NCLEX exam, they should be posted on the NCLEX Forum since this exam is specific to working in the US, and not in your country.

And it does not matter where the nurse is from, the exam requires the same preparation, even if you trained in the US.

You should not be preparing for more than three hours per day, or your brain just does not retain all that you have learned and studied. And it should not take one more than three months to prepare for this exam.

Good Day!

I've got one question, why does one not take the preparation for more than three months mam?

Thank you...

to all of you on here....

guys, suzanne is correct she does give good advices... so listen to her....as working in the us is a whole new ball game, prepare for it and prepare for it really well....

i, on the other hand, has never taken this aspect into account while i was typing my post...

i was only sharing to you guys how i did it...

firstly, like i said that's how i function to retain what i have read ... i need a bit of pressure...

secondly, i was just answering the questions in a carefree manner, nothing to take to heart, again just sharing...

thirdly, in my job i don't have the time....and i bet most of you have this....make use of it....take advantage of it by revising....

cramming is not what i recommend...and that to each his own...
