I enrolled in a review center but unfortunately we are only given softwares (like lipincott, saunders, which I already have) to answer. So, I guess I can call that self review since I didnt have the opportunity to attend live lectures from reviewers. hihi

    1. What are the materials that you used?
I read the whole Saunders Review book and answered Prio and Delegation by Lacharity.
    Software: Saunders, Lippincott

    2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?
    8am-12pm ; 1pm-5pm. Breaks every 2 hours. 4 times a week
As many questions as I can. 100-200. But I realized that 100-125 questions was enough just as long you understand the rationale.

    3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?
Feb - July, but I took it seriously on May.

    4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?
Process of elimination. This does work all the time.

    5. Take one or take two?
    Take one 75 questions.

Good luck future US-RN! If I can make it, why cant you? God bless!

Hi I just want to ask a question. Is it good if Im gonna use Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX-RN book 3rd edition (2006publish) on my upcoming nclex review? I also got Lippincotts Nursing Manual Practice, Kaplans latest edition and LaCharity's book. Do u still think that book could still be useful? Thanks! Im from Philippines. No date of exam yet since my papers are still processing.

I would always go with a more current edition where possible as that will take into account any changes that have occurred

Hello i would like to invite those who passed the NCLEX but without Review Centers. Please share your experiences, strategies and methods of study to inspire and motivate those future nurses like me who will take the NCLEX by self review. Please take time to answer the following questions:

    1. What are the materials that you used?

--------i read Saunders 4th edition and answered their Q&As. i made sure that everytime i took the Q&A, my score would be 80 percent and above. if not, then i reread the whole chapter all over again just so i could fully understand the content. i also worked on answering Prentice by Hogan 2 weeks before the exam to test myself.

    2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

--------studied for more or less 6-8 hours per day. Questions vary regarding on the Saunders Q&A portion at the end of each chapter. maybe like 50 questions a day. a month before the exam i did 200 questions per day by topic using Hogan. then 2 weeks prior to it, i did 265 questions per day whilst studying the rationale. my latest exam score was 80%.

    3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

-------i had the whole year to study but i totally focused on it like 2-3 months before the exam date.

    4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

-----ABCs, Maslow's, nursing process. basically elimination.

    5. Take one or take two?

-------ONCE! glory to God! stopped at 75.

for those who are planning to do it on your own, you can make it! just believe in yourself and God will do the rest. happy studying ya'll!
