--------no more study, practice answering Q&A, at first, by topic, then random. 100 in am, 100 in pm. I record my score so I can compare. basically if you can get 65% as your lowest score, chances are already high............ then use the prentice by hogan for my last day for my dry run- i got 63%(265 question).

3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

Prayers help a lot. Pray before studying and before you go to sleep and before during and after the exam :)

Hi I just want to ask a question. Is it good if Im gonna use Saunders Comprehensive NCLEX-RN book 3rd edition (2006publish) on my upcoming nclex review? I also got Lippincotts Nursing Manual Practice, Kaplans latest edition and LaCharity's book. Do u still think that book could still be useful? Thanks! Im from Philippines. No date of exam yet since my papers are still processing. :)

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

I would always go with a more current edition where possible as that will take into account any changes that have occurred

i used the same 3rd edition of saunders. i passed the exam just last year. start studying, answer as much sample question as you can and pray. good luck! :)

Saunders Comprehensive and Saunders Q and A are most likely effective and informative review materials I used before while self reviewing =)

1. What are the materials that you used? THE MOST HELPFUL IS KAPLAN STRATEGIES/REVIEW BOOK. THE MOST RECENT EDITION

2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day? ONE HOUR A DAY AVERAGED FOR 6 MONTHS

3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

6 MONTHS READING ALL NURSING MATERIALS OF WHICH A MONTH IN ACTUAL REVIEW.

4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam? KNOW YOUR STUFF(NURSING FOUNDATION, ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY,PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, ETC.), LEARN TO UNDERSTAND QUESTION/ANSWERS AND TEST TAKING TECHNIQUES, ANALYZE/CRITICALLY THINK QUESTIONS/ANSWERS PRIOR TO ANSWERING.

5. Take one or take two?

TAKE ONE. STOPPED AFTER ANSWERING 75 QUESTION--AFTER 28 MINUTES!

1. What are the materials that you used?

--------i read Saunders 4th edition and answered their Q&As. i made sure that everytime i took the Q&A, my score would be 80 percent and above. if not, then i reread the whole chapter all over again just so i could fully understand the content. i also worked on answering Prentice by Hogan 2 weeks before the exam to test myself.

2. How many hours per day did you study? how many questions did u answer per day?

--------studied for more or less 6-8 hours per day. Questions vary regarding on the Saunders Q&A portion at the end of each chapter. maybe like 50 questions a day. a month before the exam i did 200 questions per day by topic using Hogan. then 2 weeks prior to it, i did 265 questions per day whilst studying the rationale. my latest exam score was 80%.

3. How many days or months in total you studied before taking the exam?

-------i had the whole year to study but i totally focused on it like 2-3 months before the exam date.

4. What are the specific strategies that you used or the the test taking skills you applied during the exam?

-----ABCs, Maslow's, nursing process. basically elimination.

5. Take one or take two?

-------ONCE! glory to God! stopped at 75. :)

for those who are planning to do it on your own, you can make it! just believe in yourself and God will do the rest. happy studying ya'll! :)
