Filipino Nurses

I need help, guys. Badly.

I received a letter form CGFNS regarding my application for CES. They are requesting for the Validation of Registration/License from PRC Philippines.

You see, I came here to Houston with my Mom just a week after the June '09 NLE hence the results weren't out yet. So when I applied for the CES, the requirement (License Validation) was waived by CGFNS. But now, they're asking for it. And I don't know what to do. So frustrating.

I believe someone from this forum mentioned before that Texas BON doesn't require license from the Philippines if you graduated in the last 2 years. I wonder how true that is.

I haven't contacted Texas BON or CGFNS yet. I'm gonna do that on Monday.

For those like me who came to US before they took their professional's oath, how is the process of registering and getting your license? And how long did it take before you had your license? Because this is going to delay again my application for CES as well as NCLEX. It's been almost 8 months since I sent my application for CGFNS-CES. If I'm not mistaken, I can't send the Request for Validation of Registration/License without actually being registered/licensed, right? And I can't get my license unless I take the Professional's Oath, right?

Please advise on what I should, need to do basing from your own experience.

You'll be blessed.

Thank you very much.

"im from texas, and i dont have a philippine license. after i graduated, i went back to texas but i didnt take that route for getting texas license 'coz i knew i had to get cgns and texas board of nursing requires 2 years experience when you're a foreign graduate. instead, i applied for california license (the dont require local license), and i was approved and took nclex and got my california RN license. and then, i endorsed my license to texas and already have my texas license.." ... pare ko'y

When TEXAS issued you ur Temp License. Did you have to fullfil some requiremnts like CGFNS, Resending OFFICIAl transcripts from philippines to texas, or anything u can think of that was required to fullfilll your requirements and get a PERMENANT license.

i can only think of LiveScaning again in texas...any more help would be great.

Planning to get outta california. Its impossible to even land a Nursing Home Job wat more a Hospital.....imposible

what year did you take the exam in CA? what is your written explanation?

during that time are you a US citizen?

thanks

I took the exam recently this year, 2010. CA-nclex-rn exam. It was a written explanation.

I migrated to US when I was 3 years old. Got Naturalized as a Citizen when i was 8 (thus default lost my Pinas-citizinship).....got my bsn in manila (never did dual citizen) ......prc wouldnt let me sit in for local nle because i only had US passport (no longer pinoy citizen even tho im born in pinas)

To that effect.........and the CA BON accepted the letter and issued me an approval to take ...........

I'm going to write the same explanation to all these other states here in america. Hoping to get exempted as well with strict requirements. Anybody in my shoes? same experiences? please share.....def. nid some tips.

Thanks shiela but everytime i call a BON-office the one's who answer the phone are not the one's who decide if i'm qualified or not. They are just assistants i guess. They always refer me to download the Application-online. And the information on the applications usually are the requirements without extra details for exempt or extraordianary cases like mines.

when i endorsed my license to texas, they didn't ask for any cgfns or transcripts. i just submitted their requirements (live scan finger print, license verification from california bon, and passing the jurisprudence exam).. after that, the sent my my permanent license..

I am taking NCLEX in Texas, I just arrived from Philippines. I am recent graduate nurse with BSN from Philippines. Texas BON will waive you needing 2 years experience if you have graduated in the last 2 years.

No local license needed for Texas BON. Pinay Nurses Rules...............

did texas bon approve you already and got your eligibility?

texas bon foreign graduate requires (according to their website):

E) All international applicants must provide proof of working in nursing for a period totaling two (2) years (i.e. 24 months) at anytime after graduation from a nursing program.

F) If you have not worked at least two (2) years as a first level, general nurse within the four (4) years preceding the filing of the application, you will not be licensed until you complete a Foreign Educated Nurse (FENS) refresher course consisting of 120 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours of clinical practice under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The applicant required to take the FENS refresher will be given a six (6) month permit to complete the refresher course.

I talked to Texas BON, I am good to sit for NCLEX once I submit application and do CES.

Hi, newbie in here and can't help to notice but I guess I can safely say we are in the same boat. Anyways, here is my story. I am Fil-Canadian and went back in the Phil to finished nursing and back to canada w/o taking NLE. I applied a lic in CA BON, took NCLEX and passed just Jan2010 and now waiting for visascreen. I plan to work in the US using TN visa. I keep on reading that it is really hard finding job in CA and in my case 0 experience but now interested in moving anywhere perhaps Texas. By the way my wife is an experience RN nurse here in Canada but she is just starting to study for NCLEX, bottom line where I can find work she will come with me too.

I am wondering if you can tell me your experience finding the first job. Are you employed now? I appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance.
