I saw this after surfing the net. Press release 01/12/2011

The Department of Health (DoH) today announced that applications can be filed starting next week, January 17, for its project where unemployed nurses will be deployed to poor communities in the country.

"the project, billed RN heals, seeks to make essential health services available to all Filipinos by training and deploying 10,000 unemployed nurses in communities to be identified by the DoH in collaboration with the department of social welfare & development (DSWD),"

Health secretary Enrique Ona said.

Rn Heals, an acronym for registered nurses for health enhancement and local service, is expected to address the shortage of skilled and experienced nurses in 1,221 rural and unserved or underserved communities for one year.

"eventually, these nurses will be part of the pool of competent nurses for later employment or absorption in health facilities, thus addressing the inadequate supply of skilled nurses and increasing the nurses' employment rate," the health chief concluded.

Is the application for RN Heals still open?

Hi Resting Nurse, we currently don't have any news about the opening for the new RNHEALS batch yet. DOH is planning to absorb half of the current RNHEALS trainees throughout the country and I was told by some of my group mates and colleagues that there may be no opening for the next batch yet because of this.

mikeru22 please update us if there will still be a RN heals application for this year, been searching the net the whole day but I cannot get any info regarding this. I hope they are still accepting application for RN heals 6.please email me at [email protected] if you can get some info. thanks a lot

currently an Rnheals in cagayan de oro (hospital based) and our stipends are being taxed. 800 pesos is currently witheld every month and we have to file a 1901 with the bir and pay 500 pesos. guess what? most of my fellow Rnheals don't want to go through it (we were required to file a 1902 in January) and so who would benefit from the 9800 pesos per Rnheals (about 300) of us if it cannot be remitted because we did not file?

is this happening it other parts of yhe country too? thanks.
