Can I get hired overseas without work experience?

I'm an RN since 2007 but never been employed in a hospital. I remember printing out a list of hospitals in Metro Manila that same year. I can't count the number of resume I've passed, I waited for "the call" but I did not received any. I did not waste my time, I did hospital tours again the following year. The result was very frustrating. I've earned certificates from paid trainings and seminars but it just didn't catch the eyes of the people in the HRs. All through those years, I did not believe in the BACKER POWER.. not until someone in the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital HR asked me if I know someone from there... Well of course, again, I was never called because I didn't have that "someone". I got tired and finally decided to work in a call center while searching for that "someone". I could cry but yes, I found that person after 5 years so I resigned from my work. With no guarantee that I will be hired, I rendered my free services for 3 months which ended April 10 this year. Now, I'm a bum looking for the new "someone". I feel so desperate now. Though single, I'm 30 and I fear that my chance of getting hired here in the Philippines is already too slim. I'm not sure but maybe australia but there is a part in there application form that you need to put your experiences for the past 5 years. According to them only new graduates can leave that area blank. On the bright side, if you get their acceptance letter, you could study their bridging program which cost 10k AUD - 25k AUD depending on the course wherein no experience is needed. After finishing the program and submitting again to their board, you may get the australian RN license and time to look for a job. With regards to hospitals there, I do not know if experience is needed for hiring

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

All provincial colleges in Canada will ask what you have done for the last 5 years and if qualified that long you will be required to have x amount of nursing experience

Specializes in ICU.

As far as I know, the bridging program in Australia is requiring you to have at least 1 year PAID or NON-PAID experience, so yes volunteer works count but the gap should only be 12 months. Then, you could take the IELTS Academic exam. There's a 20k AHPRA fee and 100% financing.

It is possible to get hired abroad. I knew someone who had just recently passed the local boards and immediately got hired in Saudi Arabia. The salary was rather small, but I think that wouldn't matter as long as you are having experience. I think they were able to work abroad with the help of some agency, if not a relative who already works in Saudi.

I am not sure with other countries if they hire RNs with no clinical experience, but I'm pretty sure that with some perseverance looking, you'd find where ever it is you want to work. Good luck, and God bless!
