thank you in advance to those who will reply.

You will be given a list of requirements during the qualifying exam. You only need to comply with the requirements after you passed it. Exam results will be posted first week of July according to the training office. Training shall commence August. Sorry don't have their contact number.

Hi messageinabox. Did you take the Residency Training Exam? How was it? What are the common topics that were asked? Thanks in advance for your reply. :)

Yes, robocop. I already took the Qualifying exam. Common topics are MS, Pedia, some OB and a lot of computation. If you practiced the NCLEX reviewer Q&A's, its fairly similar to that. In fact, so similar that they also have SATA questions (about 5, I think). I found the exam "ok lang" (just right). Im kind of confident in my answers in calculations because I like math. Bring a calculator.

They will be posting the names of all those who passed the exam and you will also receive a text message as to when you will be interviewed. Expect it to be posted around July. The last part of the exam is composed of 10 (?) computations. Very basic. Just know your conversions (g-mg-g-mg), D/S X Q and your Vol/Time X DF/60 mins formula. The rest of the exam is multiple choice.

Not to dampen the spirits of those who really want to train at AFPMC, but as much as 70-85% of those who qualified for the RN Residency program have "padrinos" inside the AFP and/or Dept of National Defense. :smokin: I am currently training there and I am proud to say that I am part of the 30%. Most of the staff there really get surprised whenever I tell them that I do not know anyone from the inside. Anyway, good luck! If you have a high board rating and do well in the exam you have a high chance to be qualified. Even higher if you have a referral. :yeah::lol2: Just try and never lose hope!!! You never know what fate has in store for you

Nursing Service Training will post the names of those who passed the Qualifying Exam first week of July. I don't think they will call nor email because contact details are not asked during the test (you will just fill out you name, no info sheet), so I think you will just have to check it personally. Good Luck!!

Thank you for this. Whew! I'm a bit sad to hear about that "padrino system". Well, on one end I'm not surprised anymore, as it works not only in government institutions but as well in private. A lot of nurses out there who are also eager to join the training or employment opportunities are not given anymore the chance to prove their worth .. only a small portion are left to them. Anyway, congrats..:yeah: so I assumed you are in your last month of completing the program, how's the experience so far?

Ilovetoggerdear : please help me how to prepare for there skills exam, how is it? I just want to prepare for it because i'm aware that i'm not good in skill.. so please give me an idea how is it going. thank you very mech.

1103alym: THANKS! I still have 2 more months to go and so far so good. I really learned and is still continuing to learn a lot of basic nursing skills (which I never encountered in nursing school) and my confidence level as a nurse really improved. I can do a lot of procedures on my own already (e.g. catheterization, IV insertion, suctioning, tracheostomy care, mixing of medications, NGT feeding, lavage, IM/ID/SQ injections, use of infusion pumps etc.) I am also very fortunate to have been assigned in an area where aside from working with the nicest staff, the patients are toxic! Hehe. Meaning I have the chance to learn a lot. Some of my co-residents complain that they rarely do procedures in their area of duty. Are you planning to train there as well? You should give it a try like I did. I never expected to qualify (since I don't know anyone) but I did. Good luck to all of us!

elocin06: our skills test was done after passing the exam, interview and finishing all of the lectures. I don't know if it will be the same for the coming batch. Don't worry too much about the skills test. The preceptors are nice and you can even ask help from them. If I can remember correctly, we did NGT feeding, IV insertion, catheterization, enemas and...that's all I can remember for now. I'll get back to you when I have recalled it already. GOOD LUCK!
