I am in Sault Ste. Marie...Sault College is where I attended school as well...at that time it was a diploma program...3yr...My daughter is enrolled in the BScN program at Sault College to start in the fall...how do you like it?...and the instructors??...it is so different now from the time frame I attended...even the labs are so high tech now...how were your marks in the first year?...any clinicals?....any info you can provided would be much appreciated to relay to my daughter...my daughter actually wants to be a doctor, and has chosen this route to get there...
The program is great. Although the first year you are taking a good look at yourself and using in ways to relate to your clients. There is a lot of emphasis on communication and relations. We do have clinical in first year. They are within the long-term care facilities in the city. In second semester she will also have to do a few short family visits with another student interviewing a family who faces a chronic illness challenge.
My marks throughout the year ranged from good to great. The instructors are great and will help you if needed. Tell your daughter that there are a lot of papers that need to be written (APA format) and A LOT of articles/literature that needs to be read. Tell your daughter to sign up for FROSH week to, it will be a great opportunity to get involved in the college atmosphere and make some new friends (just a little plug-in there, as I will be a FROSH leader this year. www.scsac.ca/frosh)

Hope this was somewhat helpful. If you need any more info jest message me on there, and I'll be more than willing to help.
    Cheers!

Originally took my psych nurse training, graduating in 1976 from Alberta Hospital Ponoka, one of two such training facilities in Alberta, as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN). After working for 26 years, took my BSN degree online through University of Phoenix. Still live and work in Ponoka at the same facility, now named Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury. Also have a private business providing foot care in the community and surrounding areas.
