There is a school which provides fast track courses for nurses.

Would u give the name and address o f that school. Tnx.

I encourage you to take the course from George Brown as it is a community college that is accredited and Toronto healthcare employers recognize it as a valid course. Most employers do not view courses from private, unaccredited training centers as valid or reliable. A fast track health assessment course from a private center looks bad on a resume, unfortunately the only resumes I have seen with these courses listed on, have been from IENs who are naive about what employers are looking for.

I have seen your posts it seems either you work in George Brown or you are marketing for them.

There are tons of private colleges affiliated with reliable orgnaizations.

No, I have nothing to do with any colleges, my statement about employers preferring education from public, accredited schools is common knowledge among Canadians.

Tnx for the inputs,

I heard that George brown certificate has the most value but it takes 3 months to finish a health assessment course there vs Centennial college which offer a two months course. I would like to find a shorter course from a well recognized center. I appreciate any advise.

Thank you very much.

George Brown, Centennial and Ryerson are all recognized schools, the content of their health assessment courses are similar, they even use the same textbook (Jarvis).

Finally I registered to Ryerson college thanks to your help, I found it the shortest course, now I need another favor, could guys advise me on finding the best place to get BLS CPR certificate in Toronto. whats more is there any other necessary course that an IEN should take to get quick job in Toronto?

Thanks a million.

I am glad you registered for the course, I don't know if you are aware, but there are funds through the Nursing Education Initiative to help reimburse Ontario RNs and RPNs for courses, keep a copy of your course receipt and proof of completion and when you have successfully completed the course, apply, it may or may not be granted, but the best way to find out, is to try.

As far as CPR courses, google CPR for healthcare providers Toronto, you will find quite few pop up, most should be similar in their content, their prices may vary a bit. Keep your receipt for CPR for a(small) income tax deduction next year.

There aren't any necessary courses that an IEN should take, I don't encourage you to take anymore then the health assessment course at this point in time. The health assessment course is a good review of the whole body and will help you feel confident that your physical assessment skills are similar to a Canadian trained nurses skills, as the course is a part of our core nursing education.

As far as what employers are looking for, read the job postings on hospital websites, in addition to experience they often mention membership with RNAO.

farpadana, Do you know about gateway for international nurses? http://www.chineseprofessionals.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/CPAC-program-fact-sheet-4.version.pdf? There are courses such as: introduction to nursing practice in Ontario and workplace culture and communication, they also offer one on one mentoring, job shadowing and job matching.

Hello:

I am a new graduate, and I am still waiting for my CRNE results. Most of the jobs that I see posted online says that they would like an assessment course in the job description.

Bronze 1: How did you like the assessment course from Ryerson? Would you recommend it?

Can anyone tell me what would the difference be between the Ryerson and George Brown assessment courses?
