hi. Good Day! im a british citizen of filipino descent working as a nurse in a big NHS hospital here in London. im currently waiting for an application from an online recruiter of nurses from British Columbia. the advice i want to seek from anyone is:

1. do i need to apply for a nurse registration now or do i wait for my job application?

2. what type of exam do i need to take before i actually work there? or will i be given a "provisional" license to practice?

3. do you need a diferrent license if you are going to practice in a diferrent province or territory?

4. what's the best state to work in?

That's a good point, coocy2go. I get confused by some of the posters in the international threads. One month it's Canada, the next it's Australia, then whereever.

hiya.

at the momentthe only paper i'm lacking is the Verification for Registration Form for my nurse authority in the Philippines which my brother is happy sorting. this week hopefully then i shall maybe count 4-6 weeks from 1 Sept (atleast) for this assessment period to start and end.

No Australia. just Canada on my sights for now.

i guess i'll be here in the UK till January 2009 atleast. do i smell late winter/early spring in Canada? :smokin:

Snort-January isn't even half way through winter. We usually get a nice week of -30to40C that month. Spring doesn't hit Edmonton until May

Wahts up? I am waiting for my work permit for Alberta. Where are you with your application? Still going to Edmonton?

I went to Calgary for vacation last month...looking for houses to buy/rent. Found one or two. Just waiting for the permit now then bye bye UK.

hi. i'm currenlty waiting for the nursing authority in the Philippines to post the Verification Of Registration form to Canada then i guess i will have to wait 4-6 weeks for the "assessment" thing. that's where my application stands right now.

i'm glad your on your way now. where did you actually found some housing? any website you can recommend? i heard if you go to an agency here in the UK for a fixed fee they will help you with evrything...from homes to mobile phones,etc. would you do that?

I dont think any agency will help you until you pay them. I asked my relatives and we walked around and took the estate agents phone numbers as they will be displayed on the sale sign in front of the houses.

We met some pinoy nurses and they recommend you which areas you can rent. We are thinking of renting for the meantime cos we still got our house here in the UK.

as for me ALL of my papers are now with CARNA and i'm just waiting for my eligibility status. GH sent me forms (police form, embassy form, etc.) and was told to start with them.

if i get my eligibility status i'll have to turn up a gear all the things i need to "dispose of" like my TV, PC, etc. and will start inquiring on the best place to rent a flat. but i think GH will be providing me a "physical acccomodation" and not just money to rent for a month or so then i will be ;eft to find a place on my own....

If i were you i wont do anything ...wait until you have your medical exam.

It can be a long frustrating wait. Trust me ..look at the other post where you said you are buying new mobiles to use in Alberta. I told you before i have been waiting since 10th of June for my permit. Its already 3 months. Nothing has happened.

Just imagine if i resigned in June and start selling my things ..then i wont have any money and nothing in the house. I will wait until i see the permit with my eyes then i know i am leaving.

i know you might kick me in the butt for this but....i plan to resign by october. and instead i plan to be a permanent bank nurse so i can work anywhere and anytime i want. the workload on the ward is getting enormous and i am fed up. you work hard and nobody appreciate what you are doin...:banghead:

Sounds like you already work in Alberta! I know nurses who are leaving positions to work "casual" for the same reasons. They all want m-f day shifts...

so, would you advice me or agree with me if i say i would resign even before i start applying for that work permit or atleast wait till i get my eligibility status?
