Manitoba Nurses

Hi! I'm just new here so please pardon my ignorance.. I just graduated last april and passed the board june of the same here. I'm a registered nurse here in the Philippines and been committed as a volunteer nurse for 3 months now since all the hospitals stopped hiring nurses for selfish reasons if I may say. I have a pending application as a provincial nominee in Manitoba and I intend to challenge their CRNM exam but I'm a bit confused wether I'm qualified if a) I still don't have a paid hospital experience, b) I'm a second courser and I just finished my nursing degree for 2 years (trimester). I already visited the CRNM website but I couldn't find answers to my concerns. Please explain to me the things that I have to do to enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

hi kokoy..quick question, CRNM accepted your application even without a proof of immigration?

Hi everyone! I am just new here in the sight so my apologies in advance if I say/ask inappropriate questions. I am a Registered nurse and wanted to work in Canada. But I am also wondering if I can have my qualifications assessed as a Licensed/Registered Practical Nurse? as it is much cheaper and I was thinking that I might be accepted easier if applied for LPN/RPN rather than as an RN.

You could but the issue then would be finding a job. A lot will depend on the province you wish to live in

Hi, I'm new here. I'd like to know how does the Board of Nursing conduct the CCA? Like, how many items does every portion have? I'm afraid of failing this since I'll have to spend money going to Canada, that's why I'm preparing for this exam very hard.I appreciate your help re my inquiries.

@Kisses: Welcome to allnurses!

First of all, In Canada it is referred to as College not Board of Nursing. Second of all, the CCA is not a pass/fail exam, it is an "assessment" of your needs, and level of competency. There really is no specific "preparation" or review for it, because it is meant to look into the Nursing competencies you have already acquired through your education and experience. CCA is the same with SEC, please read on numerous threads already posted for more information. Since you mentioned CCA, then I believe you will be doing it in Manitoba, as in other provinces they call it SEC.

Good luck.

its faster if u guys apply for assessment in atlantic provinces. they are very prompt with their correspondence. i am an IEN too. good luck.

I just arrived in Manitoba from the Phils. I am working on my papers for CRNM for re-application since it expired last Oct 31, '11. I just took my IELTS here today which is the only requirement needed in order to complete my registration. Furthermore, its just now that I found out that there are bridging programs and CCA for IEN. And to my surprise, the nurse who told me that, actually underwent the bridging course at Red River college for 10 months.

How long does CRNM reply after submitting the complete package?

What is the likelihood that an IEN will no longer be required to undergo bridging program and be eligible right away to write the CRNE? Do you guys happen to know the basis for this?

Thank you. Hope you can help with this...:nurse:
