How long the wait has been?

Hi everyone.... I have been following this website for a little while. Currently I am waiting for CNO to make a decision on my RPN application. I applied last Sept and still they haven't made a decision..... I am surprised that even a degree from US is taking so long to be evaluated! How long did yours take from application to be able to sit in exam? This waiting is just killing me!!! If in any way I had known it's going to take this long I would have studied something while waiting. Even now if I come to know it's going to take one more yr I will enroll in different field. Everytime I call CNO their reply is we don't know very case is different.....UUUggghh! May be hearing from all of you might make me feel better! Did you have to wait more than an yr?

I have read that some IENs have waited as long as 12 months.

Your sentence structure suggests that English is not your first language. Which in turn suggests that although you have a degree from the US that much of your education was obtained elsewhere. That may be the hold-up for you. Canadian colleges of nursing assess ALL of the education applicants have, not just their nursing education. Canadian standards of education are very high and the minimum requirement for all the Canadian colleges is completion of 12 years of elementary and secondary education plus the professional education. So CNO may be having trouble determining where your educational preparation puts you on their scale.

Your right, English is not my first language. If CNO wanted ALL of the education wouldn't they have asked for it by now. I know that they have waived English Language fluency test, as they have said so. Plus they have asked for (and have received in Feb) documents from my previous job and nursing licensor board. It's just frustrating, that's all :(

loriangel14 .... wow 12 months. I have 3 more months to ago before it's an yr.

I was speaking to an IEN earlier and she said her RN application can take up to 2 years. I think she said she's gonna apply for RPN because the application process is suppose to be quicker than RN. This particular IEN is from the Philippines.

Thanx toronto-nurse. I applied for RPN and it's already been 9 months waiting for decision. I am just hoping it's going to be soon. :)

Sorry about dat, dats how it's done, it seems dey have too much applications they are handling. Mine took 8months before replying me, but they have not made a final decision yet.

If this is an example of your written English, this could be what the problem is. Words that don't exist, no basic understanding of grammar and the wrong words used.

Even if they do make a decision, chances to land a job are slim. I am thinking to go back to school and study something else in medical field...... but that is still up in the air.

Why not take a bridging program for IEN's? Least you get some theoretical and clinical experience!

As far as I know I can not take a bridging program till I get letter of direction from CNO.
