Dont know where to start...need advise for Canada

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to take the CRNE through British Columbia, I already read and understand their requirements and how to apply for registration. I am from the Philippines, I am a Registered Nurse and working in a tertiary hospital as a staff nurse. I think I can manage to apply and eventually take and pass the CRNE. My question is,after passing the CRNE, what will I do to practice my nursing career in Canada? Is it the same as looking for a canadian employer (hospital) to petition me for permanent residency just like in the US? I understand that there would be a temporary registration which will be issued to me to work temporarily as an RN, but how will I use it? I am not familiar with the Canadian Immigration? I need your inputs.

Thank you.

Best of luck to you, I was only answering what you had posted about the nursing asst and LPN roles.

I'm not the one who posted the nursing asst and LPN roles upon failing the CRNE. But as the thread starter, I just gave you my assurance that we will do our very best to pass the CRNE.

The visa is called a Temp work permit (TWP) and you should find all info on the Canadian immigration website. Yes you can get job with a TWP and most hospitals will have awareness on the application and process as you will need a LMO from the hospital

silverdragon,

I already read from the Citizenship Immigration Canada about Temp Work Permit. It says there on the "how to apply" section that I should have a written job offer from an employer in Canada as part of the process. How can I find for an employer? Or can I find an employer to give me a job offer granting that the Nursing Boards will give me eligibilty to take the CRNE and approve my temporary registration while I'm still here in the Philippines?

Thank you.

What you need to do is apply to the hospitals in the province you want to live in. They upon accepting you will either provide you with a LMO or have to apply for one and then give you the copy when it comes through (everyone in most cases has to have a LMO) You then send in your application with LMO plus fees and at some stage they will request you attend a medical. Once everything is complete you will receive a letter stating you meet TWP requirements and that your file will be added to the data base so when you fly to Canada at immigration you will go to a second desk where you will be issued TWP. Keep the letter as you will need to show it at immigration. This can all be done from the Philippines

Hope this helps

Which country? As a general rule LPN there is no shortage so does not meet immigration requirements

Hi Silverdragon102?

Do you know how long one has to work under TWP before applying for permanent residency?

Thank you.

This surely helps a lot silverdragon.By the way, What's LMO?

Can I start my application to the hospitals in the province where I want to live even though I'm not yet eligible for CRNE and Temporary Registration? Or I should start applying to hospitals after I'm already eligible to sit CRNE and already have temporary registration?

Thanks and best regards to you.

You can work under a TWP for a few month before applying for PR. We are looking at applying in the next couple months and have already been here since Mar, saying that I am not working at the moment, just waiting to hear from NS nursing. Once I know what is happening I will also be applying for TWP, DH is the one who has TWP at the moment

You could start now applying to hospitals and see what they would prefer. LMO is Labour Marketing Opinion and for most jobs in Canada is required. There are a few jobs where you don't need it but nursing isn't one of them

I will do that silverdragon. Thank you very much.

Once a hospital in Canada will consider my application, will they send me that job offer (as it is indicated in CIC to have one to apply for TWP ) together with the LMO or that LMO will also serve as the job offer?

Not sure, will probably give you both.

Ok. thanks for the info.
