Hi, I noticed that the deadline to apply to write the Feb 2012 examination is November 7th. Since I probably still won't have the results of the October exam by this date, I was wondering how I'd apply to write in Feb in case I fail the October examination? Is there an extension to apply for students that fail or would I have to just wait to write it in June? Should I just apply to write it in Feb. anyways and then just cancel my application if I do pass.
    Heelppp soo stressed

Lilly: I think if you are un-successful...you get an extension I am pretty sure..So don't panic..I think I read on here that they have to give you an opportunity to applied for the next one..I know of 4 individuals you failed it in June and never got the results back until the 2nd week of July and were able to applied for Oct. But we are not going to worry about the re write right?..Hopefully you passed and all your hard work payed off ok? so just hold your head up high...I have been so pre-occupied with regards to this national exam..I did not think it would affect my life so much....anyways it is what it is now..and we can only hope we all pass.....anyways hope my info was helpful.....

If it makes you feel any better..I am still having nightmares about the CRNE and its been a week..Seriously!!!!!..I know it sounds crazy but it is true. I am still in shock..because I found it so hard!!!!..But hoping for the best but also mentally prepared for the worst...good luck

This question comes up after EVERY exam. If you're not successful you will be given an opportunity to apply for the February exam. The colleges know that not everyone will have their results before the application deadline. Now all of you, go take a walk in the beautiful fall weather and forget about the exam for a day.

I have written for the second time.I found this exam harder than the first one.Is there a chance to reduce the passing percentage/marks?
I found that most of those sitting for October exam are IEN's and my friend who is volunteering in Sunnybrook hospital said she found four crne answers in her hospital posters itself.I think even if we know the competency,it is better to get a clinical experience to pass the exam. This is my personal advice to all IEN's
    Praying for the best results:redpinkhe

The passing mark is set by the CNA based on the relative difficulty of the exam. So if the October exam was indeed more difficult than the June exam, the passing mark will be lower. If you're interested in how the exam is marked, you could read the stickie http://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses...ed-370227.html where it's all clearly explained.

How long does it normally take a letter mailed from Canada to your country to get there? Add that number of weeks to 6 and you'll have a fair estimate of the number of weeks it will take from the date of the exam until you have your results.

All the exams are roughly the same, although the composition of them changes slightly from sitting to sitting. The best way to decide when you should rewrite (IF you must rewrite) is to think about how long it might take you to study for a new exam and fill in the knowledge gaps you might have.

Even I took the crne this oct. And i feel so tensed that whenever I awake at night, I jus think questions that were on the exam. Some of the questions were so tricky that u cannot figure out from 2 options. I am jus praying to god for all those who are anxious for their results.
Also, does someone know that some questions on the exam are high score or low score questions or all count for the same mark?
    Hoping for the best........................

http://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses...ed-370227.html PLEASE READ THIS!! It answers ALL the repetitious questions being asked here.

How is the exam scored? For multiple choice questions there is only one correct response for each question. There may be responses that are similar or contain partially correct responses, but there will only be one absolutely correct response and each correct response is given one mark. The multiple choice section is marked by computer scan. The short answer questions have three parts. Scoring is performed by a team of content experts based on the presence of correct responses matching those on the scorer's list of acceptable responses. Marks are awarded on a scale from 0-3; part marks are possible for partially correct responses. However, multiple choice and short answer questions are weighted identically so in order to receive a mark for a short answer question, all responses must be correct. The two parts are scored separately; the total number of points achieved on the short answer questions are added up then divided by 3 to obtain the aggregate score for that section. The two sections are then added together to obtain the final mark.
What's a passing mark on the CRNE? The standard passing score ranges from 59-68%. BUT the standard passing score is determined by the level of difficulty of the exam as established by the CRNE examination committee. Each exam is set by the committee using a pool of thousands of stock questions created by nursing educators across the country. The pool of questions is constantly changing, as is the composition of the exam. No two exams are ever more than superficially similar. The actual mark achieved only matters as it compares to the standard set for that specific exam. Results are reported to the candidate as either "pass" or "fail". Occasionally the CNA will provide a score to the failing candidate in an effort to assist with succeeding on subsequent attempts but generally speaking you will not receive a score.

Anxiously waiting for the results, although it will still be a month or more of trying to keep myself busy. I hope it will come sooner though and I don't understand why in this day and age, you have to wait for a couple of weeks before getting it. It's like prolonging your agony.

Not to sure if any of you are aware of this, but I had spoken to a nurse today who informed me she wrote the RN for the 2nd time this oct.5th and she also told me that she knew weeks befor the rest of her friends that she had failed. She explained to me that she got a letter sent to her address like 3 weeks before the results came back....not to sure if anyone else knew this information, but if any of us has fail...i guess we will soon here about it...anyways any additional information on this would be awesome!!!!...
