On busy days, I used to run into the kitchen/coffee/ice room and start a pot, tell my fav CNA when I passed her in the hall "New coffee, 7 minutes, meet you in the kitchen!" We'd meet, throw about 6 oz each over ice, raise our cups in "Cheers", chug 'em and go run right back to work...

Less than 30 seconds to start the brew, then about a minute to chug once it's ready. It was efficient, but even more, it made us feel like teammates on tough days.

My 12 yo son plays sword fighting and when he pretends to slash at someone's ABD he yells "free C-section!"
Now we wonder where he could have come up with that??? LMAO

Since my husband's passing he also tells people that he's "saturated in Estrogen, even the dog is a girl in my house!" LOL

When you see the emailed picture of your new granddaughter (born today!! by c/s, Jenethe), and after noting that she's pink, email back, "Nice baby!", and go on with your work........

Well, she will look different next time she wakes up, I think.......

You know you're a nurse when a two year old gets stung at a pinic and you are assessing them for s/s or anaphalytic shock.

Or do the same after thoughtlessly giving your 2 year old nephew (who lives overseas) a prawn cracker.

You know you're a nurse when slip and hit your head in the shower and worry about intracranial bleeding, but instead of going to the ER or the doctor you perform your own assessment and neuro checks.

You know you're a particularly obnoxious nurse when you tell everyone you meet to have their flu shots, taking the H1N1 first, as having seasonal flu vaccine can possibly predispose people to catching H1N1 more readily.
