You Know You Really Have To Pee When......

you finally get to the bathroom and the mere sight of the toilet makes your bladder let go. You end up trying to cross your legs to hold back the urine, simultaneously struggle to pull down your scrub pants, and pray that you don't wet yourself...well wet yourself too much. :imbar :imbar :imbar

Specializes in l.p.n.

you are telling your self " thank god I'm wearing black pants ,I hope it will not show"!! while looking at your back from the bathroom miror

You realize that you actually ENVY the patient in whom you're inserting a Foley.........

Specializes in Emergency.

You think all shifts should start with a Foley/leg bag insertion.

You have had the worlds worst urinary tract infection six times in a year.

You wear incontinence briefs to work (just in case), and you feel relieved rather than embarassed about it.

Specializes in Acute Care.

You've ever gone home wearing a pair of those stretchy hospital panties and OR scrub pants...

Specializes in Emergency, Trauma, Critical Care.

You get home from work and go about the house and pass the bathroom and say "Oh yeah....I've needed to pee for 14 hours"

You have to have a visual of a toilet in order to remember a basic body function.

PS. I can completely relate to the UTI's! Ugh.

Specializes in ICU, Telemetry.

I have learned that while my bladder may be the size of the Hindenburg, all it takes is for me to hear / smell the urine while dumping a foley, and ...gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now....

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

I can SO relate!! Ever since I first learned to insert catheters, I've had this psychological quirk that forces me to pee BEFORE I put a cath in another person. Even if I don't have to 'go' at a given time, hand me a Foley kit and all of a sudden the urge hits me. Weird.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Tele, DOU.

:imbar :imbar :imbar :imbar Your purse looks like an advertisement for sanitary napkins. Just in case you sneeze or something in that isolation room. The llittle tinkle doesn't have to make it to the undies. Then you can change the pad after you finish changing that patient. :imbar :imbar
