You know that you are dating/married to a nurse

by mydee

Hello,
I am a prenusring student and I just got invoved with a RN. There are some funny situations that have came up.
For example he thought it would be fun if we weigh each other (what girl whats to let her boyfriend know how much weight she is carrying)
Or another funny one is that when we were having a romantic moment he kiss my hand and he stated "ooh baby you have nice veins."
He of course makes sure I carry hand saintizer in my purse when we go out to eat.
He also got a little excited when he explain his job as a surgical nurse and how the patients look when they are cut open.

i think my boyfriend is just now getting use to me asking about his bowel habits.... he tells me he has a belly ache and i want to know when his last BM was, what it looked like, if his stomach is tender? distended? i have even busted out my stethoscope on one occasion and listened for BS in "all 4 quads". ha ha ha. i had him listen and we soon were laughing at all the gurgling.... it gets me every time!
i think i went too far one time when i offered to administer a suppository for him

Hmmm, my husband's list would look something like this (I'm still just a student):

When he complains of a headache, out comes the BP cuff cos he has hypertension.

He has to give me more information about his bowels than he ever assumed during our early married years.

He has to put up with hearing funny/disgusting/nauseating stories from this website which have me ROFL.

He hears far too many of them while he's eating something.

He has to massage my feet and lower back a lot because I'm working as an assistant nurse to pay my way through university.

But he's at least happy that we now have a first aid kit and someone competent to use it after raising our 5 kids without it. [sigh]

My bf gets sooo annoyed when we are just sitting there watching a movie or something and I start poking at his hand and forearm like I am choosing a vein to start his IV!

Then we fight about how just because the label reads "natural" it does not automatically mean safe.

When my husband was d/c following an appendectomy w/o having had an initial bm. He was really distended and miserable when we got home. I told him, nxt time you get up, we're going for a walk. We did, he camehome, vomited, moved his bowels, and felt like a new man. Still tells family and friends how I tortured him...He new better than to complain last year, following a hernia repair,,good thing, it was March and pretty cold outside

cute LOL!

I guess it just goes to show how nurses really care for our loved ones. I mean REALLY!

But it's never annoying. It's funny and sweet.
