oh but i have so many.....

having a psych pt crap in the sink just to make me mad, it worked!!

having a pt covered in ants on admission.

thinking i had escaped a loogie situation clean only to place my hand on my hip and feel the warmth, and sliminess of the loogie right there on my pants.

having to scrape petrified loogie from an elderly pt mouth, while my battle buddy gagged next to me.

walking into a rm of a naked psych pt who was trying to stab me with a fork, when her sitter finally got her settled, she sat her naked bum on the extra chair in the room without a sheet or anything. dont have to remind me to not sit in the chairs in the rooms!!!

    1. I was feeding a baby in our nursery one night, and I had him propped on my thigh while I supported the rest of his body with my arm while I fed him... The baby had been fussing a little bit a few minutes earlier, but stopped after he got his bottle (and subsequently started passing tons of gas... or so I thought). Well, after I finished feeding and burping the baby, I noticed my thigh felt a little warmer than usual...

This child took the motherload of all bowel movements (for a newborn, anyway)... not only did it fill and overflow his diaper, but it also came out of the blanket he was wrapped in... and I literally had a lovely puddle of meconium soaking one of the pant legs on my scrubs (which were lightly colored, there was no hiding it). My co-worker started hysterically laughing when she saw it, but I wanted to really just take a shower right then and there.

    2. My first day shadowing in L&D in school, I worked with a nurse who was about to have a patient deliver vaginally. The patient's water broke right before the baby came out... and it literally showered the ENTIRE room in front of her with amniotic fluid. The nurse had the foresight to give me a head cover and eye shield before I went in, but some of the residents weren't so lucky .

I am a CNA and the only story that I can think of is when I was changing patients with a co-worker and she was talking on her phone (serves her right for talking on the phone while doing patient care). The gross part is while we are changing this man she was trying to hold the phone between her head and her sholder. Well she didn't do a good job because it landed right on the mans exposed crotch. All I could do was laugh.

The only thing that really gets me is GI bleed, like has been bleeding for days/weeks. I once had this little old lady from a nursing home, bil AKA, GI bleed, and very dead. She coded at the nursing home and was not revived enroute or in the ED. I tried to clean her up before taking her to the morgue. Oh my. Every time I would roll her over to put the body bag under her, more horrible smelling GI bleeding diarrhea would come out. Finally after running out of the room gagging (and laughing) about 4 times, I put a towel under her buttocks and zipped her up and took her to the morgue. It was unreal how bad the whole ER smelled for hours after that!!!
That's my most gross story also. Got an ICU admission for a gent with a GI bleed. Ridiculously low H/H so they did an emergency colonoscopy right there in the bed at 3am. We had quite a gallery of on lookers as the Doc used a lot of water to keep flushing the colon so he could find the source of bleeding. The water/feces/blood filled the bed and turned into a stinky waterfall running onto the floor. We had two aids attempting to mop it up as we went along but they just ran out of mops, clean towels, etc.

That was the nastiest, stomach turning, experience I ever had in my 12 years there.
