Apr 2, '13Commodores "Nightshift"
and
Chic "Good Times"
Singing these always makes me giggle inside - esp. "Good Times" when the sh*t is really hitting the fan!
Whatever gets you through the night! (wait, isn't that a song too??) -
Apr 2, '13They're coming to take me away ho ho ha ha hee hee... To the funny farm... (I was a psych nurse!)
-
Apr 4, '131- Wise Up- Aimee Mann
For the acute on chronic pancreatitis in bed 6:"it's not going to stop 'til you wise up"
2- Rehab - Amy Winehouse
For many, many patients: "and I say 'no, no, no'"
3- I Fought the Law - The Clash
For the police-dog bite in Fasttrack and the man with taser electrodes in his face (ouch): "And the Law won"
4- You Can't Always Get What You Want - The Rolling Stones
For the seeker being escorted off property
5- As Is - Ani Difranco
For my new co-worker who is still killing herself trying to be nice:"so give up and admit you're an a------, you would be in some good company"
6-Suspicious Minds - Elvis
For the paranoid BPD in the psych cell and his co-dependent girlfriend
7- I Hate Everyone - Get Set Go
For me after that shift:"I hate most everybody, but most of all I hate you"
8- Breakable - Ingrid Michaelson
This is my real theme song, as it reminds me of the reasons that I wake up and do it everyday, and why at the end of the day I love my job:
"And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just breakable, breakable,
Breakable girls and boys"

Apr 4, '13Since I am a night nurse, my first thought was AC/DC "You shook me all night long." Also, Peter Gabriel " Don't Give Up," and Kate Bush, "This woman's work."

Apr 6, '13I have many different themes, but the most repetitive is the theme song to the old children's show "Fraggle Rock". I had a co-worker several years ago who always pronounced the antibiotic "flagyl" as "flaGull" (hard g sound). To this day, every time I give that medication, the song pops into my head. Yes, I know I'm kind of warped.

Apr 6, '13Wish it was "Pour some sugar on me" But alas, "Smells like Teen Spirit" seems more fitting LOLOLOLOL

Apr 11, '13Welcome to the Jungle fits well LOL as well as If you're going through Hell and Crazy Train.

Apr 23, '13I personally like "Hotel California". You can clock out anytime but can't leave. Oh, also "Push it" by Salt-n-peppa for codes.
-
Apr 25, '13I used to work in GeroPsych and every night the Looney Tunes theme would run through my head. Still does with some patients.
-
Apr 25, '13For the really bad days, Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III. "Take a whiff on me that ain't no rose, roll up your window and hold your nose, you don't have to look and you don't have to see, 'cause you can feel it in your olfactory..."
When I worked on a mental health unit, we used to think of tunes that would be humorous to put on the unit's telephone system for when people were put on hold. A few I recall: Crazy by Patsy Cline; Lithium Sun by Sting; Voices (I Hear Voices) by Chris Young, People Are Strange by the Doors; They're Coming to Take Me Away by Napoleon XIV.Last edit by Orca on Apr 25, '13 -
