ahhhhhhhhhh...I can soooooo see that!!!!!!!

Do that in one of my patients rooms and we would get one heck of a STAT nurse call for more lithium!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!

True story...one day a man swore to me that Satan was in his room talking through his heat register. Now you have been taught that you shouldn't go with the hallutionation, rather re-direct *cough bs cough*, I find if you don't you can have various items in a room thrown at you at top speed...so I tend to take a different twist with it...

"no no no, sir it was Stan, his cousin...and he is a real troublemaker but harmless...go into the shower and take a long one, and sing gospel songs or what ever...he hates that and will go away". The man looked at me like I was absolutely 100% certifiable!!!! Then I looked at him and said "what?"

He told me I was nuts! And I smiled and said..."ohhh thank you for clearning that up for me" with the biggest grin!

Yep, redirection via being crazier than my patient! Worked but remember I know him quite well so 'don't do this at home'...LOL!

Sadly he has gone a bit downhill and is in his room flashing back to his 60's days...naked as a jaybird and asking for 'mind altering drugs' all the time. I found out he was part of a commune of nudists and artists...and it is very interesting to say the least...if I brought up Stan to him now he would proably agree and tell me to quit being so tight and get naked! LOL! Okay that would be some re-direction by 'shocking' my patient back into reality if I did! LOL..think I will pass..he seems to be in a very happy place...LOL!!!!!

This is EXACTLY why when I orient my new patients to the room and I am explaining the call light system to them, I specificly tell them "Press your red button and you will hear a voice say may I help you. You are not Imagining it. The voice you are hearing is the intercom and it is okay to answer it with what you need."
