Going over a patient's home med list, it appears he is on multi-pronged treatments for GERD, insomnia, HTN, migraines, depression, anxiety...but he admits that he's stopped taking it all! About to scold him and he explains, "My wife handed me divorce papers two months ago and since then I was healed!"

Lol. Unfortunately it seems the noncompliant FFs just don't understand that it's the skipping meds, smoking, and drinking that cause them to be in the hospital monthly. A lot of times I think it's a mix between IV pain medication addiction and a need for attention.

Actually this was an outpatient pain clinic for an epidural steroid injection. I had a hard time believing he was cured of everything but he's probably the best judge of his own anxiety/insomnia/GERD symptoms. He said at some point, his MD was considering surgical intervention for his GERD but now he can sleep flat! Also, his BP was quite WNL and he said his doctor astonishedly agreed. I am a believer. This story is funny... but no joke.

Stress is the cause of so many problems. I can believe this.

The divorce might be more expensive than the meds but certainly worth it if he has less side effects. (one can only hope about these things: kids, finances, etc.) He might need to start taking meds again if the divorce has any of those "side effects".

If I didn't have to worry about my husband, daughters, Gdaughter, assorted four legged family members and the bank, my life would be so much easier. So much simpler. Goodbye to anxiety and insomnia.

It would also be very, very, lonely.

When I weigh all of the above in one hand, and solitude in the other, there really is no contest. I guess I'll just take the chaos.

I believe it . . . my insomnia, hypertension, anxiety, depression and gastritis all went away when I got rid of my ex-husband. So did my STDs and "clumsiness."!

The Bible decries divorce, but medicine proves it's healthy. Who would have thought? :D

Story is funny and I'm glad he realized it was to his benefit to move away from his stressors, oh all the money he's saving. In this case it wasn't "cheaper to keep her!"
