God, I LOVE this! A sigh, slight dip of the head, then a gentle, "We were waiting for the right time to tell you... Oh, he hasn't told you???"

It's late. Folks in my family tend to get a little wired at night. But still, richly deserved.

The response that I always use when asked if I am pregnant "No but I just gained 10 pounds thanks for noticing". Kinda mean but it definitley turns the tables. Can I just say though that being asked if you are pregnant is far less insultanting than having a person start rubbing your belly and then ask. ***** I dont go around petting other peoples fat rolls kindley keep your hands off mine! kthnx

I've got the same problem - size 10 upper half, size 14 lower. Nobody's come right out and asked, but I get "What, no babies yet?!" a lot from the older Filipina CNAs.

And yes, NO BABIES YET. Not for a good long time.

Being overweight, I've been hit with the 'when are you due' on more than one occasion. I try to approach it with humor, and just answer them with the statement of "..well, usually its 9 months AFTER conception..." This either stops them in their tracks and they get embarrassed, or they giggle about it and apologize.

If they decide to continue along with sarcasm, or even go so far as to get derogatory in their comments about my weight, I usually stay with the humor aspect, telling them that I love being a flabulous woman...or something along the lines of preferring to keep my assets with me at all times... or even that my boyfriend loves big women, and boy, did he hit the jackpot with me...eventually they give up trying to get the better of me, or they burst out laughing.

Nice, just when I'd about given up all hope of finding scrubs made for men! You should post this in the Male forum...every guy there will thank you.

i actually had a co-worker experience the opposite problem. one of the residents who had done his rotation 3-4 months ago was back on my unit for on-call duty. we were just chit-chatting when "sally" walks past. he looks her up and down then whispers to me... "woah, i don't mean to be rude but... sally got fat."

i reply: "dude, she's 8 months pregnant."

I didn't read the other responses but I just had to post.

My dd who is 17 is slightly overweight carries it all in her middle just like her mama.

In the past month she has been asked 3 times whether she was pregnant.

At first she laughed it off, and we used humor to try to diffuse it. This last time though, she was pretty upset. It makes me angry when people don't use their brains before they open their mouths. By the way, these were all adults who said this. Some people should receieve etiquette lessons before they are let out.

Anyway, I feel your pain.
