My pet peeves

    my pet peeves…

here are some of my pet peeves and some of my staff as well, trust me they got into it and so it goes…

    1. why people stand right on the exit of any given hallway and carry on a conversation plus then get attitudes if you say excuse me in order to get by?
    2. while driving people don’t they realize that they are surrounded by glass & it never fails at a red-light they are hunting for something up their noses! then look around to see if we noticed them!
    3. individuals that can’t or don’t know how to park their vehicle between the lines!
    4. co-workers that call out at the last minute on a weekend when you’re swamped and already under staffed!
    5. management that doesn’t back you up or find you guilty before you can defend yourself.
    6. staff that say “you’re gonna feel a pr**k
    7. or when people know where you work and say oh! do you know so & so? then you say “no” they reply “well they been there for over 15yrs!
    8. staff who can’t bring themselves to admit they were wrong or say i’m sorry!
    9. people who say they will call you later and you never get call
    10. folks that blow their noses in a restaurant while you’re trying to eat.
    11. patients that don’t cover their mouth while coughing or sneezing.
    12. people who order a huge salad because they are on a diet then pour a large amount of salad dressing & order a jumbo diet drink.
    13. the ones at any given company, you ask them for something and they act like you’re disturbing them.
    14. people who are joined at the hip with their cell phones & during a meal they pull it out and ignore you while you’re trying to have a conversation.
    15. here’s one that most nurses have experienced one time or another, when a pt. ask you for something that the dept. happens to be out off, then they turn and ask someone else’s for the same item, in front of you.
    16. people while driving turn their lt. signal & proceed to turn rt. or they keep their light signal on at all times.
    17. people who ask you “how are you doing? then disregard your answer and talk of something else.
    18. how about when you ask someone for directions and at the end say “you can’t miss it”
    19. people who ask you why were you in the hospital? then they proceed to make their ailments worse than yours.
    20. oh! when you call a business and the automated system tells you press #1 for so and so after x3 you’re connected to a live person but before you can say anything she places you on hold or transfers your call back to the automated system!
    21. when you are shopping & you spot a cashier with only one person, then they pull out a stack of coupons, plus an item without any price, then the cashier calls the slowest staff to check the item’s price.
    22. individuals who are anxious to meet you but when a better looking or wealthy person comes into view they let you hanging & turn away from you.
    23. people who don’t follow through with their promises!
    24. people who finds out where you’re from and say “do you know the smith family?
    25. web sites that you signed up with, then later to find out that it’s not for you, however, they make it impossible for you to leave.
    26. people who say “i don’t like him/her without knowing them personally.
    27. people who give up before they try.
    28. individuals that say oh! i was about to call you” or “you look familiar”
    29. people who can’t stand that you’re single and want to set you up with who they think you should be with.
    30. when you buy a new electronic and the clerk says oh! even a child can set it up.

now i know for a fact that i’m not the only one nor my staff with pet peeves, so let us hear what are yours don’t be shy let it rip

My biggest pet peeve? When people who have allergies or a cold, you are minding your own business trying to chart or talk on the phone, will sniff up copious amounts of snoog, until I finally hand them a box of kleenex and say, please, please BLOW already!! Top it off with a nasty clearing of the throat thing......BLOW....SPIT....but STOP making that horrible noise!! (I have an adversion to mucus.....) LOLOLOLOL

People who think that UR is an acceptable substitute for you are, your, or you're.

People who don't know the difference between you're and your.

People who don't know the difference between they're, there, and their.

People who don't know the difference between lose and loose.

People who don't know the difference between definitely and defiantly. (Sadly, this includes my son's 6th grade teacher.)

Can I be a crusty old bat even though I'm still a nursing student? I *am* 43yo, so maybe I can be an honorary C.O.B.???

The lose/loose thing drives me nuts too! You don't "loose" weight, you lose it, for heaven's sake! ;-)

I hate when people lick their fingers to turn a page- especially at work

I also REALLY hate when people call off right at 9pm on a Saturday night. Just because you have to call off by 9 o'clock (or two hours before your shift), doesn't mean you HAVE to call off right at 9! We will never get anyone now as it is way too late on weekend night and we will be working short. If you're going to blow off work, at least give us some time to find someone..

I hate it when people eat with their mouths open, lip smacking and grunting during a meal....yes, nurses I've worked with!

Granted when you lose a lot if weight your skin may become rather loose.
