Several days ago, a 6 year old girl came into our ER after having put her finger in a pencil sharpener. (OUCH!). Well, the tip of her finger was missing a 1 cm in diameter piece of skin/tissue. She was so upset and crying, afraid we were going to give her stitches, which of course we couldn't. We gave her a litte tylenol with codeine. She fell fast asleep. Slept right through the dressing application. When it was over she awoke and her mom said that we didn't put in any stitches. The little girl looked at me with those innocent eyes only 6 year olds have and said, "I knew you guys would do the right thing!"
