How do you chart THAT??

My sister was working in long term care (alzheimer's unit) and a patient of hers had bitten her tongue and it began to bleed. The poor lady had Parkinson's as well, and was shaking like a leaf. Well, my sister decided she would do well to give her an ativan and calm her down some, but when she returned with the pill, the poor woman got confused and instead of picking up her water for a drink with the med, she accidently grabbed a dog biscuit that she'd been feeding her little dog...(hubby was visiting from independent living area and brought the dog) my sister, in horror, said, OH NO Honey, spit that out! Well, the little lady spit it onto the floor as asked, and the dog ate the expectorated biscuit off the floor, but he also ate the ativan....poor dog, he did survive though. Anyone else got one? sticknurse

I want to know: how big was the dog? How many milligrams Ativan??

My mother takes Ativan at bedtime. She and my dad are the proud owners of the world's most annoying, irritating, obnoxious little spoiled rotten, half-witted yip-yappy dog.

So I'm wondering how much Ativan will produce a nice quiet evening without actually killing the nuisance.

(The dog's name is Joy. She is otherwise known, to my kids at least, as Joyful Noise. Barks at everything. You can be sitting there watching TV and cross your legs and she barks!!)

Ha ha, I have a dog like Joy. She barks at a leaf blowing in the yard next door!
My mom takes Ativan for sleep too but instead I recommend on ocasional dose of benadryl(with vets permission of course).
The diphenhydramine will usually work if given in mg/kg. Don't ask me how much though but for my 9 lb pooch it is about 5-7mg. (I buy the childrens liquid and most of it is wasted as It is used infrequently)
It also helped my poor male dog sleep after his "demasculinization" procedure. He was getting pain meds but still whining and restless(so we blame him?)
Ok, I think we have strayed (no pun intended!) beyond the original topic so I will add my own.
"Pt told nurse to screw herself" nurse replied "I did that last night", patient responded with "well ok then"

I had some guy smoking mj in his room the other day.

How do you chart that?

I just charted something like "Strong smell of smoke in room, unable to identify, did not smell like traditional cigarettes, pt informed of smoking policy, pt denies smoking"

Do I have to run that through babelfish or something Fran? Suddenly I have a desire to not have so much caffeine in my system.
