I make up songs each year around Christmas to give my caregivers a laugh or too (and even my residents giggle!)...here is my first of this year..enjoy!
Geri-Claus
(To the tune of "Here comes Santa Claus")
Ohhhhhh…Here comes Geri-Claus,
Here comes Geri-Claus,
Right down Elderly Lane!
Cane in the right hand, his cath in the left hand,
To the nurse’s desk he makes his way…
Scooters speeding, his skin tears bleeding
A soft BM has made is day…
Yeah Geri-Claus is finally out of bed,
And listen to the resident’s say…
"Oh…Here comes Geri-Claus,
Here comes Geri-Claus,
Doesn’t he look great!
A broken hip, his ticker doesn’t tick,
Not oriented to time or day!
His mind is slow, and his bladder won’t go,
But his Ativan is working hurray!…
So let’s give a cheer for the man of the year,
Who has ambulated all this way!"
Hip hip horray for he’s under way,
Approaching the Christmas tree.
Despite neuropathy, and a replaced knee
And the fact that he can’t see!
He shouts with glee "Its Christmas day, or even the 4th of July…
It doesn’t really matter, my kidney stones shattered
And I just needed help to pee!"
Here comes Geri-Claus,
Here comes Geri-Claus,
Right down Elderly Lane!
Cane in the right hand, cath in the left hand,
To the nurses desk he makes his way…
Scooters speeding, his skin tears bleeding
A soft BM has made is day…
Yeah Geri-Claus is finally out of bed,
And medicare finally paid!
YEAH!!!!
