When we give meds, we do 2 of the 3 checks by ourselves, and the 3rd with our instructor, before giving the meds. I was at the med cart, doing my 2 checks when one of the staff nurses came by and asked me if I was talking to myself!!!

Too funny. I've worked with a few nurses and work with one now who talks to herself. She says it's the only way she can stay organized. I say whatever works.

I've been known to say a few things out loud myself to organize myself.

If it's keeping you organized and the patient safe, then chatter away I say.
