I was working er one night and a lady came in c/o abnormal bleeding for a few days. So we, me and the doc, set her up for a pelvic exam. I placed the lady, who was around 26yrs old, up in the normal position. The md inserted the specula and I noticed him what I thought at the time fanning in the air around her vagina. He kept fanning and fanning, and I'm like I can't believe he's doing that. The pt had a look of disbelief on her face. Well then I learned of what he was doing.
