I had a dream once where I was the patient and was mad at the nurses because they forgot to put my side rails up...in my dream I kept hollering "NURSE" but no one would come. I too had dreams where I was sleeping with my patients (nothing sexual thank goodness) but I would get mad at cover stealers etc. I would also hear call lights going off in my sleep and wake up thinking I could still hear them.

I used to always dream I was sleeping in someone's bed or hear call bells. And wake up all freaked out and disoriented not knowing where I am.

One I dreamed I had a third nipple and in my blouse somehow it would pop out in the middle and my patients would stare at me.

I was so embarrased that I woke up and keep holding my hand over the middle of my chest all day thinking it was real!! LOL

When I was a student, I dreamed we were all seated around a huge table in our locker room at the school, but we were all bare naked. Our instructor didn't seem to think or show that was anything strange.

yesterday I had a dream that I was planning to call in due to a migraine but couldn't seem to get my cell phone dialed to the hospital's staffing office, or the supervisor's number

Wellll...I have alot of them, but the first one that pops into my mind was dreamt while I was in pre-nursing classes--chemistry and anatomy. I dreamt I was cooking my dissection fetal pig in a big old beaker, over a bunsen burner with a distillation apparatus attached....and it was going to be dinner....

I guess I'm normal like most of the previous posters, since I dream of work also. I dream of the never-shutting-up blasted IV pumps, call bells constantly going off, co-workers not showing up, etc.

I've had so many dreams about nursing, I don't know where to start!! One that comes to mind is one night I was doing a "quick shift" (finish at 10.30pm, start again at 7.00am). I'd had a horrendous shift, with four pst-op patients at the same time, IV's, Narcotic infusions, four sets of half-hourly obs, washes, you name it! I got home still convinced I'd forgotten half of the stuff I was supposed to do, trying to relax enough to get my four hours sleep before I was due back on shift again.

I dreamed about work ALL night, as you do. I woke suddenly at about 3am, woken by one of those darned IMED's alarming again, and got out of bed to see to it. Realising I was at home, I had a sleepy chuckle, decided to go to the loo and settle back to bed. After my ablutions, I found myself looking for the fluid-balance chart to mark down 'pt went to toilet'"!!

Hmmm..... needless to say, when I turned up for shift next morning I was anything but relaxed, having worked another full shift in my sleep!

While working in a nursing home, the LPN, who was the med nurse, told me that she had a dream about Ativan pills chasing her down the hallways!:D

speaking of Ativan, don'tcha wish sometimes, that it could be in the ventilation system so everyone could benefit?

I just had another funny dream this morning; I dreamed that one of our male residents was due to be visited by Gov. Palin. So I gave him a quick shower and he wouldn't sit still...I kept thinking "how is he going to meet Gov. Palin and squirm this much?" Then we couldn't find any pants for him to wear...I started going through other residents closets. I spent the rest of the dream looking for some pants for him...while he sat there in a T shirt and an Attend watching me. To boot, it was someone I'd cared for long ago and probably deceased by now.

What is so funny is that I didn't vote for McCain/Palin, yet that was the main topic of the dream...
