That's abuse, are you being sarcastic?

United Arab Emirates is where you live?
That particular poster is indeed from the UAE.

MassEd, I love the smilie in your signature, although the first time I saw it, I wondered why the smilie was drinking a glass full of Tabasco!

    :spin:
ha! now that you mention it, it does look like Tabasco... and I DO love Tabasco...

Not saying I agree with what they posted, just clarifying that where they're from.

I've had several of the "I can't sleep" complaints. It makes me so mad because there I am working 12 hour MIDNIGHTS, and I would so love to be in their position now. Then there are the "I had a pain 3 days ago" complaint that they think should be addressed days after the pain has stopped. Had one man call an ambulance, chief complaint was that he did not have a/c. He came with a suitcase and demanded in triage to be transported by ambulance to a hospital an hour away since his doctor was on staff there!

right, I understand that. As I noted in a previous post, I know UAE is United Arab Emirates, I don't UNDERSTAND the post, if OP could clarify what he or she was trying to say.

If your after a dumb diagnosis. I once saw Miss Day B on a chart.
I once saw "sinkable episode" as an admission diagnosis

Well, we do live on an island

We have not heard from that poster in quite some time....

I took it to mean that a woman came into the ER for the first time whose chief complaint was that her husband had slapped her once, and that this poster thought that was a silly reason to come in.

Sorry for the mixup.......and OP is welcome to correct me if I am wrong.

did the officer tell you the whole story? betcha he didn't.

the reason law enforcement doesn't take dv seriously (or so it seems) is because most of the time, arresting the perpetrator is a waste of time, as is trying to prosecute. why bother arresting him when she's just going to bail him out first thing in the morning?

that's one of the more archaic, uninformed attitudes i've seen here, are there are some doozies!

    domestic violence is a crime.

i currently work in kuwait, close to uae. you are correct, its no uncommon for women to be abused. sad, but true . its common to read the paper and see maids beat unmercifully or they're found dead in the desert. very backwards culture.

yes, it is a crime, and like i said, one that law enforcement doesn't take seriously for precisely that reason.

did you know that some shelters do not allow boys over the age of 12? is that disgusting, or what?
