Describe the Ugliest Scrubs You Have Seen!

Nurses Humor

Published

Geez, I volunteer @ a hospital where I have seem more than my share of ugly scrubs! Interested to know what's the ugliest you have seen out there. I have 2 that come to mind:

(1) NASCAR race cars .. everywhere, ugh!

(2) A black and white top from afar upon closer inspection reveals it's a skull and crossbones design  .. OK it was around Halloween but seriously? As a patient I would get creeped ...

Personally, I wish the RNs would wear scrubs that identify them apart from LPNs, CNAs or techs. They ALL look the same! Gotta freaking look for a badge that is not always prominently displayed .. but I digress ...

Ever seen the three wolves howling at the moon Tshirt? Yah had a guy make scrub tops of it and wear them in the ER. Even a gunshot victim laughed once.

Nice ... :lol2:

Well at least the gunshot victim lightened up some.

I once worked with a nurse who wore zebra printed underwear under white scrub pants. I did a double take to make sure I saw what I thought I had.

Same nurse also wore baby poop green scrubs that were about 2 sizes too small

oh yea and star wars scrubs home sewn

Ugh. One of my classmates wore white boxer shorts with navy blue polka dots. I didn't need to know that. Who decided on white pants for the school uniform anyway?

Yellow/green neon scrubs, home made. The person wearing them was a complete loon and shouldn't have been in health care.

Also, some home made scrubs that were made out of a plaid material, both pants and top which just made her look like she really was wearing pajamas.

Worked with an aide that stupidly wore bright blue undies under her white pants.

We sang, "Blue Moon" to her all shift.

And the next time I see thong hanging out, I'm gonna take some bandage scissors and *snip*!!!

There were some scrubs they were selling at Walmart. All the print was was insults! "Not now!" and "Go away... you bother me!" and so on.

Now tell me... who would be dumb enough to wear that?

The scrubs were cute. Really. A pretty pale yellow and a good color for the skintone.

They were the perfect size... for a five year old!! I cannot fully describe just how bad it was. I'll try... it's been on my mind for some time now and maybe I can finally purge the image from my memories.

The girls were cemented into place and flattened to the extent that I had to wonder if circulation was impaired. No improper cleavage could show.... maybe if the short sleeves were not similarily constricting they may have peaked out from there to gasp for air, but they were allowed no such opportunity.

The pants were very fashionable and, unfortunately, a better fit. Upon sitting, the top rode up in an valiant effort to provide for blood flow, and the pants had a low enough waist to have no hope of.... shall we say.... covering the slack.

The rear view was likewise near indescribable. The thoracic area was tighter then the best made military bed. There was the appearance of a growth above the middle of the shoulderblades as the material fought bravely for a little repreive from the strain. Around the back waist area, there was what I initially believed to be the beginning of the fabric finally giving way but as the shift went on I realized it was the elastic gather- stretched in a manner sure to make a contortionist blush.

I did my best not to look. I did amuse myself by watching the expressions on the faces of others, but that did not last for long as I was afraid I'd totally lose it. I. Did. Not. Say. A. Word. I eventually avoided eye contact with everyone for the entire shift. At one point I sat down to check something on the computer, glanced over, and didn't make that mistake again. I cleaned, I stocked, I reorganized the rooms.... anything to keep me busy and out of the line of fire. There was no possible way I could address the issue in a manner that could have led to anything close a good outcome or resolution of the situation.

A few nights later, we had a slow moment and someone tried to bring up the subject. "Hey Rhia, do you like yellow?" No, I do not. Yellow is for caution, and that is all I'll say or hear of that situation. "Awww.... c'mon, didn't you notice..." Nope, I interrupted.... and I'll say STEMI and QUIET five times in a row every fifteen minutes if you persist with this line of questioning. Another said "Now, it couldn't have been that bad!" I sighed. I took a deep breath.

STEM.....

"Ok, ok, that bad. We'll behave."

It's been a long time. I am still afraid I'll go to work one day and see those scrubs again.

That was an amazingly beautiful description... thank you for a good laugh.

Perfect example of what I am talking about, non-peds ... I call this a scrubs FAIL. Sorry for the blurry image, it's zoomed in and lost a lot of resolution but you get the idea of what the design is. The background color is poop brown (not the "nice" brown someone described previously), and bottoms are black!

:barf02:

Umm...awkward...I own that top :lol2: Given, I am an elementary school nurse, and I wear mine with brown pants. I did try it on with my black pants and thought it looked like I got dressed in the dark. I would totally agree it is a fail on an adult unit or with the black pants though, so no harm no foul! :)

For an elementary school nurse and brown pants, I give it a thumbs up. I think the black pants gave it a bad look. Not to mention a med-surg staffer? UGH! This particular nurse/CNA/tech -- whatever the heck she is as they all look the same in my hospital with all these scrubs looking all weird -- is constantly wearing ugly scrubs. I wish I could just put her out of her misery .. well, actually MY misery. I wanna jab some forks into my eyes :D

the hospital had decided to put rns all in white -- "so the patients will know which one is their nurse." bad idea. first, if every nurse is wearing all white, how does the patient describe his nurse to the pt who comes to walk him. instead of saying "he's the one with the black and grey scrubs," should they say "he's the big black guy with the shaved head?" how about when we have two or three big black male nurses with shaved heads? and a lot of the new nurses enthusiastically endorsed the decision because "it makes us look more professional." but i digress.

pamela had probably gained forty pounds since her days as a brand new nurse about a dozen years ago, but nevertheless when the hospital decided to put all rns in white, she resurrected her whites from her days as a new grad. same exact scrubs -- only now they're about four sizes too small, and worn really thin from all the washing. she probably wore the same underwear she'd worn in those days, too. a white bra that just barely covered the nipple region, with "the girls" busting out in every direction. and white granny panties that were so small the elastic kept creeping under her pannus. oh yes! pamela looked so professional.

the nurse manager decided to talk to her about proper undergarments for whites -- so pamela promptly decided that since her underwear was such an issue, she just wouldn't wear any. those pants were so tight you could see ever fat roll, pubic hair, pimple and mole. she wore those scrubs every day until the hospital relented on it's all white policy . . . .

maybe those scrubs weren't so ugly after all!
