Ask a constructions worker for 4X4's....

by awsmfun Premium Member

I was working as a Paramedic in a rural area and we responded to a head on collision...had 8 people injured...as fire dept personnel we were all volunteers and new faces came aboard occ. Well, I quickly ran out of 4 X 4's as several people had lacerations so I asked the newbie to run to the rescue truck and get some more. He was gone the longest time so I finally sent someone else...When he show up he was huffing and puffing and said he couldn't find any 4 X4's but found some 6 X 6's..I thought WHAT--we don't carry 6 X6's--and when I looked up he was holding an armload of 6 x 6 blocks of wood that be used to support vehicles during extrications...You guessed it--he was a construction worker and 4 X4's to him were pieces of lumber

Ha! I saw where this was going!!

Along the same vein: I'm a military brat. When I went looking for my first apartment I took my dad with me. At one complex the manager very proudly told us that the complex does not accept Section 8's. Right after she said that she stepped out for a moment and my dad and I are asking each other "Is her Section 8 the same as our Section 8?" When the manager came back in I asked her to define Section 8: in CA people who are eligible for Section 8 get housing assistance. Dad and I started cracking up and we had to explain to her that in the military Section 8 is a psych pt!
