I was working as a Paramedic in a rural area and we responded to a head on collision...had 8 people injured...as fire dept personnel we were all volunteers and new faces came aboard occ. Well, I quickly ran out of 4 X 4's as several people had lacerations so I asked the newbie to run to the rescue truck and get some more. He was gone the longest time so I finally sent someone else...When he show up he was huffing and puffing and said he couldn't find any 4 X4's but found some 6 X 6's..I thought WHAT--we don't carry 6 X6's--and when I looked up he was holding an armload of 6 x 6 blocks of wood that be used to support vehicles during extrications

...You guessed it--he was a construction worker and 4 X4's to him were pieces of lumber
