The type of underwear should not be the issue. The pants are the issue.
I personally am 22 yoa and find a thong more comfortable than briefs.
I don't wear pants that are so tight that my underwear preference is made known, I also do not roll down my pants.
The only people other than myself that know what underwear I am wearing would be the people who see me change in the locker room (I'm an OR nurse).
How is it "trashy" for me to wear underwear that I find comfortable but OK for you to wear your choice of undergarments.

It might be better to POLITELY let this girl know that her pants are see through - she might not be aware of it (home lighting is very different from hospital lighting) - rather than judging her as "unprofessional."

This thread is hilarious!

Rachelone, I agree that thongs are more comfy--for those who can't imagine that, think of it like contact lenses. Although you may initially be weirded out by putting something in your eye, by the time it's properly in you've forgotten all about it--you can't even feel it if you try.

I think what we've all learned from this is that some people like briefs; some people like thongs. And we all spend way too much time thinking about what type of undies our coworkers are wearing.

Okay, I have to be up early tomorrow. Me and my thong are going to sleep now.

Cheers, y'all.

i totally agree. put on what undies you like. it shouldn't matter as long as one pays attention to color and the most important-FIT. pantie lines exist b/c those pants are too tight. i am a fan of every type of panty, it just depends on the day.
on the other hand, if she's got a wale tale riding up her back then someone need to examine the fit of the thong too ...

I don't know what the big deal is? I agree politely tell her you can see her underwear. My boyfriend works in different hospitals in St. Louis on the computer and tech equipment and one nurse actually pointed out to him another nurse who was wearing a thong and said, "look at that. do you see that. let's just say nurses who wear thongs are sluts" I think the nurses that point and tell everyone how slutty and unprofessional they are is unprofessional! Come on! Is this middle school where everyone would point when they can see someone's underpants? Seriously she may not know.

I remember a coworker who wore a black thong with white scrub pants. It really made her look like she had a line of black hair growing there.

I personally don't care what kinda of underwear people wear UNLESS you don't come to work in you scrubs! I work in the OR and we change in the locker room. It is bad enough to have to see some of the stuff you have to see each day (without trying to look!!!) But to have someone turn around and bend down right beside you with no pants on, is not plesant! Even when they are wearing granny pannies!!! Just imagine if it were thongs! Luckily it my hospital it is agianst dress code, so I don't have to see that early in the morning.

What does it matter? If you can see a panty line ("PL" as we call it), then your pants are too tight- get bigger ones- problem solved.

Just from a male perspective...

Don't want to see it. I will admit, it is much better to see that one is wearing undergarments, then to see no undergarments at all. I undertand it may be more comfortable for some, but for anyone who forgot...crack does kill!

So, please, cover it up, or change the pants you are wearing. BTW, we (at least myself) also don't like to see those little tattoos just above your rear. In my neck of the woods, we call 'em "tramp stamps." No offense towards anyone out there, but we are in a professional career, and need to act as such.

If you can tell...I agree, it is unprofessional. That goes for anyone in medicine.
