Just curious: why would anyone wear a thong? I'm happy they do, i'm happy women wear high heels, but i wouldn't if i were a woman. So, not to get too far off topic, but why do they?

To me, if you can tell if someone is wearing a thong, then it's unprofessional...regardless of the color.

Even a panty-line that suggests it is unprofessional.

There are too many choices of panties out there that don't have panty lines for a thong to be necessary.

They just feel like a constant wedgie (as the above poster).

I spent my whole life trying to keep my underwear out of my butt and the last thing I need is to stick a piece of fabric in it.

I don't think anyone's choice of underwear is any of my business.

However, if it's obvious what you are or are not wearing, then you've made it my business!! I would much, much rather not know.

A few months ago, my husband, son, and I were seated in the bar area of a local restaurant. We were at a regular-height table. Two young women were seated at the bar. I turned my head toward them- I was actually looking at the TV over the bar- and found myself eye-level with a fire-engine-red mesh thong!! Her tee shirt had ridden up, her jeans down, and there it was!

EEEWWWW!!!

And, of course, this was someone I didn't know from Adam's housecat.

So, what is the proper etiquette in this situation, other than trying not to look? (Which was a bit like trying not to rubberneck at the scene of an accident; there is this morbid fascination that's nearly overwhelming!) I mean, do you go up to her and say, "Excuse me, but your underwear is showing?"

Can't you feel a draft back there??? Do you not know? Do you not care? Or is this "man bait?"

I think the answer is "yes" to all those questions, except number 3. We had a similar experience at a local music festival. We were sitting on a half wall listening and very close by was a young woman (I won't say lady) wearing jeans, a too-short teeshirt and thong. She was sitting cross-legged and leaning forward to hear her friend talk. Well, my hubby was on his phone trying to get a friend to come down and he said, "I have to go now. We have to move now." I mean we could have pitched pennies!

And of course, they know. And they don't care.

I personally can't imagine anything less comfortable than a permanent wedgie. Give me those old grannie panties any day!

Here's a little poem my kids came home with in middle school that sums up the whole thong issue for me:

Thong---the magical shorts that floss your rear
Thong---the underwear that disappears
Thong---the string that plays hide and seek
Thong---it makes your butt dance cheek to cheek

And so it goes......

I dunno. If thongs are that close to wearing nothing, then I have to wonder why thong-wearers even bother.

*sigh* Sometimes I feel like the little kid in The Emperor's New Clothes.

Angie, I'm in my mid-20s and I don't get the thong thing. At. All.

Makes me feel ooooooold. Like I should also yell at them to get off my lawn.

I agree...disgusting. You can see thru them...if they are a darker color wear what you want but be considerate of others. AND don't wear low riders....in spite of what some may think the rest of the world does not want to see it all no matter what size or color!

Years ago before thongs were "in".... I recall seeing dark panties or wite w/red pola dots udner white uniform pants. Crazy...and yes un-professional.
To your health,
MAB
