Actually, I carried a shoulder pack, and left most of my books/supplies in my car. Our instructors were good about letting us know what books/supplies we needed the next day, and I would pack accordingly. I tend to be a minimalist, so less is more for me. It also helps me with organization. We had a student in class that carried everything she owned in 2 large totes, and was constantly digging through them trying to find what she needed at the moment. I started with the "wheeled" version of a back-pack, but quickly morphed into the shoulder bag. You'll figure out what works for you. A secret? I went through 4-5 different bags before I settled on one that worked for me.
