Wanting Hospital Experience in DMV

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I've been trying to gain hospital experience since 2012, when I received by BSN. I graduated in 2007 with my LPN and then 2009 with my RN. I have only been able to obtain positions working in skilled nursing facilities. I'm happy to have a job, however, this was never part of my career plan. I am currently working in MD with my Delaware nursing license. Any suggestions on how I can get my foot in the door of a hospital? I've redone my resume. The only Hospital jobs that have been offered, were just too far for me to commute. I really want to work in Maternity or L&D, because i would like to go back to school and get my NP in Women's Health. Skilled Nursing and rehab facilities have drained me and burned me out. Everything is very task oriented. I am not learning anything new. You are not able to fully assess or know everything about your patients, because you have so many of them. You really become a pill pusher. All suggestions are welcomed. Thank you in advance.

Thank you! I figured it must be something like that, but I see DMV and I think the driver's license office.

Unfortunately, the nurses that I come into contact with, are having the same issue. My biggest problem, is that I moved here from Maryland, and I'm starting all over again.
