Soon to be new grad leaving current hospital for Cardiac specialty.

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Specializes in ER, Med-surg.

I've finished my classes and just have to finish up preceptorship and pass NCLEX. I currently work as a CNA/Student Nurse Intern at a tiny community hospital where the nurses usually have between 4-6 patients. There's only one floor at my current hospital and essentially no room for growth, but it's almost like family and the nurse to patient ratio is nothing to sneeze at. I've done my clinicals at another hospital and I loved their cardiac unit, especially the CVSD. The cardiac units here are cutting edge for the area and it was such a positive place to work. The Clinical Coordinator for the unit is fabulous and seems eager to hire graduates from my school and seemed interested in me.

If I am offered a job at the CVSD at my new hospital, would it be wise to leave my small community hospital for it? I know this is more of a personal preference question, but has anybody left a hospital where they worked as a CNA to go to a different hospital? Can you tell me about the experience? Thank you!
