Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I received an email today from an prospective employer saying they would call today with an offer. I received the email 5 hours ago! Call me already!!!!!

Did they ever call? I kinda understand the feeling. I was told Tuesday by the Nurse Manager I interviewed with that she forward my info to HR to proceed with recruitment. I still havent heard anything.

No he did not.

Here's the short version: Great interview! They double teamed me with the Administrator and nurse manager. The interview was very informative, all three of us were asking good questions and getting good answers. I was with them for about an hour. Afterwards I went straight to the post office and mailed a handwritten thank you card to each of them. At the end of the interview he said he would get back to me in a couple of days.

On day 3 I had not heard from him so I sent an email that said I had thought about a few questions on the interview, one of which I did not think I fully answered, blah blah blah. Then reiterated my sincere interest in working on their home health team.

The next day I had an email back from him saying thank you for my interest and he was VERY interested in what I could bring to their team and could I please wait until next week as he was tying up some loose ends. I responded with a short email saying of course I would and to enjoy the sunshine over the weekend.

I did not hear from him the whole week so I wrote a very short email that said, "touching base" (in the subject line) and "I'm still interested" as the message. He wrote back moments later and said (I'm quoting), "We are too! I should be able to contact you later today after I work out a couple of things we have in the works. Thanks for contacting me."

I waited all day Friday and he didn't call. Should I call him Monday? I don't think I should send another email.

This is forms home health case manager position. I know the job requires initiative so I'm thinking if I call him Monday I'm showing initiative and interest. I also exhibited patience as its been almost 2 weeks since the interview. What do you guys think? I don't want to blow it, but I don't want to lose it.

Opinions please?

I hope you hear from them Monday. I know HR can really drag their feet. They seem to forget how eager and anxious we are to get a job.

Thanks, I hope so too.

I know how hard it is to wait. I had my initial interview early Feb. Try to hold out a few more days, maybe call Tuesday afternoon if you dont hear anything. You dont want to seem like a pest either. Just my opinion.

Exactly, I don't want to be a pest.

He didn't call on Friday so I waited til almost the end of the work day and called him. I got the job. :-)

I am so happy that you got the job. Did he say why he didnt call? I am still impatiently waiting for my call. As my last email said "We will be in contact soon..." How long should I wait it has been a week.

He didn't call because he was interviewing people for a different position as well in marketing and wanted to do it all in a group. I guess I pushed his hand a little but each time we had correspondence he thanked me for contacting him. The first time I waited three days to send an email after he said he would contact me in two days. Then he said he would get back to me next week and I did not hear from him so email on a Friday and received a positive response from him but no call. So I called on Monday and he said, "I would like to offer you the job".

I think you should send an email. My friends advised me to keep it short and sweet. I just put, "Touching base" in the subject line and "I'm still interested" as the message and signed my name and phone number. I think you need to show interest, it may put you above someone else that they do not hear from.

Good luck and let me know what happens!

Also, since you are dealing with HR now instead of the nurse recruiter or manager, definitely call or email them.

I left a message, I will keep you updated.

Again Congrats on the job when do you start? I am sure you are so excited.

Orientation next Tuesday. Then apparently my supervisor, the administrator, will be out on vacation so it's looking like a week after that.

I hope you hear back soon. The waiting is nerve wracking.
